Hades' POV

I arched my eyebrows. For real… I was concerned. I wanted to know what was wrong with her this time around.


'Nothing is the problem, sir. I will change. I promise." She spoke confidently, just like she does every other time.

I sighed because I have had it up to my neck, and I do not think I could condone it again.

'Any act of incompetence will lead to the termination of your employment. I will inform HR to put you on probation. Probably find a replacement, because I am certain you will disappoint me again." After saying that, my secretary lowered her head.


'I am sorry I pissed you off. But I promise everything will change. You can go ahead to put me on probation, but kindly remove me when you see a change." Her voice throbbed with emotions. Her smiling face turned harsh, and I knew she wasn't so cool with my conclusions… ‘Do I have a choice?'

All I needed was a strong woman, but all I got was just a woman who tends to not be composed. I hope she does better, though.


'Okay. Is that all the appointments I have for the day?" I asked her with a stone face.

'No. You have an appointment overseas with Mr Cardio. That is the two appointments you have for today." She fully explained everything.

'Okay." I replied to her, and she left my office. I watched her leave as thoughts about Jane were eating me up.

‘Look at my secretary, frail and in repose. How does Jane do it? She owns a company and stood alone. Now, her company is more famous than mine. How?' I thought fiercely, and I became very unsettled about it.

How will a woman be leading prominent businesses? It was rather alarming.

I opened my laptop to work earlier but with the thoughts in my mind. I navigated to Jane's interview videos just to understand how she does her things anyway.

I took my time to start watching it. Badly looking for the strategy she used to scale higher than my company. What was challenging was the fact that I knew how I had to submit to the higher-ups just to get my company to this stage.

But Jane did perfectly. I don't even think she knew of any higher-ups. I was conflicted within myself. I was angry, and at the same time, I wanted to find out more about her.

My phone beeped aloud. The SMS popped up as a notification. My eyes read within the lines. ‘Jane texted me?!' My heart raced slowly, and my heart doubted it.

‘Why would she send a text?' I wore a mix of confusion and wondered if the text was actually a mistake. With the curiosity within me, I opened the text eagerly.

‘I am sorry for the outburst earlier.' This line was what the text said, and my eyes enlarged with surprise.

‘Jane apologised. Wow! That's kind of new.' As I mumbled underneath my breath. My heart was drawn to call her because this apology took me by surprise. And all I wanted was just to get across to her phone.

I was excited, and at the same time, I questioned the reason for the apology text. ‘Maybe she wants me as a friend now.' It was as if I won a jackpot as I spoke. Benny would be glad to hear that I finally penetrated her.

I quit the video I was watching, and I placed a call across to her. Hoping in excitement that she would pick up.

But my excitement was cut short. Jane didn't respond to the call. In fact, she hung up. I heaved out a heavy breath and tried her number again only to realise she had blocked that number.

I was going crazy as I started thinking, ‘What can I do to get her attention?' It was difficult for me to think straight. Just when I thought I had all her attention on me, she ghosted me.

With frustration, I returned to the video and continued watching from where I stopped. I took a long time to examine the video, but I couldn't deduce a single strategy she uses from her words.

I closed that particular video and went ahead to watch several interviews she had attended. I took my time, and I was ready to get it at the expense of everything around me.

The office intercom started ringing and distracted me. ‘What could be urgent?' I thought in my head because I knew it was my secretary that was calling me.

Being pissed for being distracted, I picked up the call. 'Hello, what is it?" I asked with an outburst of emotions.

'I am calling to inform you that the meeting will start in a few minutes." She passed the information to me.

I sighed. 'Okay." I ended the call without the urge to hear her further. I didn't care if the time was going or not. I returned to Jane's videos. Just to watch how she does her things.

A few minutes later. My personal phone started ringing aloud. I grunted with displeasure. ‘Who the hell is disturbing my peace?' I queried angrily.

When I held my phone in my hand, I realised the call was from the company I had a meeting with.

I picked up the call. 'Hello, I will be with you shortly." I spoke with a sharp voice.

'Okay." I ended the call after his response.

I glared at Jane's video for a moment… ‘I will come back for you.'

I closed the lid of my laptop, and I walked out of my office. When I got to the meeting room, my secretary was already seated. A coffee was placed on my table. I sat down with pride. My eyes were on those I was meeting with.

'I am sorry for the delay. Shall we begin the meeting?" I arched my eyebrows.

'Of course. My name is Tom, and I am the representative from the C and H company. The company agreed to invest in your new strategy. But it has conditions attached." He paused for a moment as his voice trailed off.
