Jane's POV
My eyes peered into the officers eyes as silence kissed the atmosphere. For some reason, my heart kept racing against my chest. ‘I can't lose my company. The company I have worked for this whole time…' My heart squirmed in thoughts as prayers won't ever stop coming in.
A few minutes later, my secretary walked in with the document. Her feet paced hurriedly to my table and she placed it on it.
'That's the document you demanded for." My secretary informed me.
'Good. You can leave now." My secretary slowly walked out of my office. But in her eyes was suspicion that something was wrong.
I was being careful of letting anyone in the company know what was going on due to the panic it might cause in the heart of the workers. Some might cease working with my company, of which I don't want that to happen.
'Officer, this is the document." I pushed it to him. He grabbed it and opened it. His eyes winked slowly upon reading the terms in the agreement.
After a few minutes, he lifted up his head. 'I can't blame you for signing this. The beginning was so juicy that you wouldn't think of reading it to the end." He expressed fluently.
'I do read all the agreements and contracts I receive. But on that day I was busy and the company representatives wanted a quick response. After reading the first two clauses, I felt all was good and just signed it." I detailed as my eyes went pale in regret for what I have done.
'I will definitely get to the bottom of this." He spoke boldly.
But I looked into his eyes and it was as if I was staring into his soul.
'I want this to be invested within twenty four hours and I want all the evidence in my desk. If you need to be paid extra for this job, I will definitely do that." I spoke with desperation as my heart throbbed and I continued to look at his face fiercely.
His face twisted as if scared. I could tell that my words looked like a threat to him and it hooked him to the ground. 'I will definitely collect an extra pay for this. Since you want it in twenty four hours, you will get it." He spoke concretely.
I leaned back on the leathered chair after hearing from him. 'I am trusting you on this, officer."
After his word, I swamped in the saliva in my mouth and he left my office with the document in his hand.
As I relaxed on my desk, I wondered who the hell could be behind this. But I could tell that it was a very powerful person that wanted my head at all cost.
I winked my eyes as the air conditioning released its air on my face. My door creaked slowly and I heightened my gaze to look at who it was.
And to my surprise, I had an unexpected visitor… ‘Hades!' My heart echoed his name. Even though I wasn't scared of his face nor his physique, my jaw dropped in admiration of his look.
It was as if I hadn't seen that face before. The fragrance from his body was capturing and my heart fled for a second.
Hades sat on the chair in front of me and he placed his leg on my table like he always does. 'Hello, Jane." His voice was soft and rigid.
I snapped out of the admiration and I shot a deadly glare at his face. 'What do you want?" I arched my eyebrows because I didn't expect that he would show his face again.
He arched his eyebrows and lifted his leg from my table. His shoulders blazing with pride. 'Guess who is in trouble?" He poised and slid his phone to my presence.
I exhaled and fixed my eyes on the phone. And to my surprise it was a video that I just left in the police custody.
'That video surfaced online and your father is bothered about you. I am here to find out what is wrong." He expressed it with a deep voice.
I smirked. 'My father?! He doesn't really care about me? Why is he after knowing what he was wrong."
Hades sighed. 'Jane, your father cares about you. Since you dismissed him from your company, he hasn't stop speaking about you. He literally forced me to come see you." Hades explained.
I grunted in displeasure and I glared at his face with disbelief. 'Nothing is wrong. As you can see I am perfectly fine." I toughened up. That control that my father had over me before, I do not want it again.
Hades skimmed out an heavy breath from his nostrils. He glared at my face for a long time. 'You always want to act tough, but you are not tough. Everybody needs help one way or the other. So, it's okay to ask for help. Do you understand?" His eyes gleamed thin as he spoke.
‘I refuse to be at your mercy.' I echoed within me and set a fierce gaze on him, 'I don't need your help. If you wish to help, why not channel it to your companies. As you can see, I am way above you." I spoke with pride shooting a disgusting glare at him.
Hades sighed and he adjusted himself on the chair. 'I am not here to banter words. Since you said you are doing fine, then it's okay. I will take my leave right now." Hades expressed and he stood on his feet.
'Bye." I declared and he walked out of my office. I hissed inaudibly. I knew the reason he came back was for them to take control of everything I own again.
But then… ‘how did that information leak?' As I thought in my head, my eyes widened upon realization that someone may be monitoring me all this while.
I relaxed backwards and started thinking of my interaction with the people around me. There was no one I could suspect would be doing such a thing.
