Hades POV
Sunk my ass on the chair while I was sitting and I took a nice juice.
My phone was on my hand but I wasn't paying attention to it. Until I heard a very loud beep.
‘What's that?' My eyes turned coldly to the phone. I opened it just to check the notification. And to my surprise, Jane was the headline.
‘Another feat?!' My heart hit hard against my chest and my eyes widened. ‘That's impossible. She can't achieve anything else.' Just as I was trying to convince myself, I opened it and I was shocked.
‘Jane saves the day.' That was the headline and I went through the body of the post. One after the other.
‘How come she did all these? Could Jane be that strong?' A mix of confusion was on my face. And I wondered how Jane was making progress without the support of another.
'The car is ready, sir." One of my live-in maids informed me.
'Okay."
Jane's POV
I sniffed in some air and I forced my eyes open. It's morning again and I just have to get ready for work. All of a sudden, I heard an aggressive knock on my door.
'Who could that be?" I mumbled to myself because I wasn't expecting any visitors. As the aggressive knock continued, my face shrank with a mix of confusion.
With tension in my heart, I walked briskly to my door with the night gown on my body.
'Who is there?" I asked aloud and waited for the person to respond.
'We are from the police station. We just want to have a conversation with you."
Hearing that, my stomach dropped with surprise. ‘The police? Why would they be here to ask me questions in the first place?' My face gleaned thin with surprise and I had to open the door hurriedly just to find out what was happening.
Upon opening the door.
'I am Detective Jared, you are under arrest for counts of fraud and you must remain silent or anything you say will be used against you in the court of law. You have a right to an Antony and if you don't have one, we will provide one for you." He let out those words.
I was taken aback by their words. I had no idea of getting involved in any fraud. 'You can't just come to my house to arrest me and ask me to keep quiet. Which fraud are you speaking about? I don't have any idea." I spoke with tension in my voice. And my eyes peered into the police officer.
'Miss Jane, you will understand better when you reach our custody. Kindly come with us." I grunted with displeasure.
'I am in my night wear. I need to change it." Alerting them, they looked at my body to confirm if it was the truth.
'Before you can go in there. An officer must follow you." The police informed me.
'No problem. I need to change my dress." And that was how an officer followed me into my house. He stood at the entrance of my door and I put on another dress.
When I was done, I stepped out of my room and I followed them.
'What's happening?" My driver asked with a loud voice. And as his voice trailed my ear, I kept quiet until I got into the car and they drove off.
Finally getting to the police station. I was treated like a criminal and brought into the interrogation room. A police officer sat in front of me.
'Tell me, why did you engage in the fraud?" He asked me. But I got more confused. 'I don't understand you. I didn't participate in any fraud. You must have gotten the wrong person." I spoke fiercely and I hoped I would get out of their claws very quickly.
'Miss Jane. You are advised to cooperate with the police to make things easier."
Hearing him speak that way got me pissed. 'What the hell are you talking about? I don't even understand what you are insinuating. I am a good citizen of this country, why would I get myself involved in the fraud." I yelled at him.
He grunted inaudibly and clenched his fist. There was a document on that table and he opened it.
'Did you sign this document or not?" He asked, extending the document to me.
I was shocked and my eyes were filled with tension… ‘What document is he talking about?' As that thought rang aloud, I collected the document from him out of curiosity.
And my eyes got a glance of the signature at the bottom of the document. ‘My signature? Why do I have my signature on this document?' My heart raced against my chest and my eyes gleaned thin. I glanced through the content of the document and that reminded me of the people that came to me about a business many days ago.
'This was meant to be an agreement for a business. How is it linked to fraud? I don't understand." My face shrank in confusion.
'Miss Jane. Kindly take your time to read through the contents for easy comprehension." He expressed and relaxed backwards.
I sighed and took my time to read through. When I got to the fifth clause, my eyes widened with shock. 'What?" My hand trembled.
'I don't know about this. I was in a rush that day when I signed this. And I couldn't take my time to read it all." I explained with tension. Fear started groping my heart.
'Ignorance is not an excuse to the law. And as seen, it seems your company will have to cease operations." He expressed without an iota of mercy.
'What? My company? Don't even go there. The people that brought that business should be ,arrested. And don't forget you can't keep me here. What the hell is this?" I became fierce, letting him know that I knew my rights before the law.
'Your rigor shouting won't help. To help yourself, contact your lawyer!"
