Jane's POV

The officer stood transfixed at a spot for a moment before he comported himself and turned to face me from the distance. He started pacing back.

My eyes gleamed with suspicion. ‘Are these officers trying to play smart with me?' I hope they were not hoarding the properties of my late cousin. I would not take it lightly with them.

'Ma'am, is there any problem that warranted your call?" He asked oblivious of the reason I called him.

'Yes, officer. I couldn't see his wallet and phone." I replied to him.

'Miss Jane, his wallet and phone isn't with us either. Maybe he misplaced it." The officer explained with calmness.

But all I could see in his eyes were lies and it seemed he had been threatened.

With the suspicion obvious in his eyes, I think the best thing for me to do is to leave for now.

'Oh, thank you, officer. I will get going." I said and turned to take my leave. I got out of the police station and walked directly into my car.

'Take me back to my company." I said and the driver took my orders. He drove me back to my company.

On getting there, I stepped out of my car and walked into my office. My secretary was behind me.

'I heard what about to your cousin and I am very sorry for the loss." She said with concern.

I sighed and shot a glare at her face for a while. 'Can I entrust you with a task?" I asked.

My secretary was taken aback by my statement. I could tell that she was scared to involve herself in anything apart from work.

'V…v…very well, ma." She stuttered in response.

'If I am correct, your brother is in the military right?" I asked her.

'Yes, ma." She responded with a sense of fear. She lowered her head to ensure she wasn't looking directly into my face.

'I want to have a one on one meeting with your brother this evening. Can you make that happen?" I asked her with an intense voice. My aura getting extremely imposing.

'Yes."

'Good. Tell him I have a business I would like to discuss with him." After having that discussion with her, she took her leave from my presence.

All I could see in her eyes was fear. ‘Will she deliver my message or should I make a plan B?' My face shrank in contemplation.

I caressed the tip of my finger with it's thumb. While a lot of thoughts schemed through my mind.

I puffed out an heavy breath from mouth because this was a hot sit for me and in fact, I decided I would go with a plan B.

I picked up my phone to dial the number of an officer, but I found an anonymous message. ‘Why didn't my phone beep?' I pressed it's sound control and then, I realized its on mute.

I hissed inaudibly…'i might just have to change this phone.' I opened the anonymous message afterwards.

‘Do not ask about or investigate the death of your cousin. If you do, you will be invited to hell.' The message was cryptic, mysterious and scary at the same time.

‘What's this message and who hell had the gut to threaten me?' I grunted with displeasure as my face shrank in anger. I decided that I was going to dig this case to the later even if it would cost me my life.

I dialled the number of the officer that I intended earlier. 'Hello, officer." My voice laced out with tension.

'Hello, ma'am. Do you need my service?" He asked with a low straight voice.

'My cousin died in the police custody and I knew he was killed. I demanded for his properties at the police station but only phone and wallet was witheld. There is an officer that seems scared and I want you to go through him to get the information about what is really happening. But do not make a move unless I asked you to do. I am just informing you for now." I detailed everything so he could be on a standby.

'There is no problem. I will be waiting directly for your order."

'Excellent!" After that exclamatory speech, I ended the call. I felt satisfied with this move I took and I couldn't just wait for everything to unwrap itself.

My secretary came afterwards to meet me in my office. 'I spoke with my brother and he is ready to meet with you." She revealed.

My lower lips curved with a smile. 'Good. Tell him I will be meeting with him at Gastrol restaurant."

'Okay, ma." She left my office at once. The killers of my cousin wont go scot free. And I know they are also my enemy.

The day carefully schemed off until it was evening. I was done for the day and as I stood on my feet, my phone started ringing.

I picked up the unsaved number. 'Hello, who is this?" I asked with warmth.

'This is General Gaza, I am in the restaurant." He informed.

'Okay, I will be with you soon." After staring that, I ended the call and promptly walked out of my office. I walked into my car while my driver started the engine.

'Take me to Gastrol restaurant." I ordered with a firm voice.

'Okay." Silence embodied the room. A few minutes later, we arrived at the restaurant. I stepped out of the car and walked into it.

My face scanned throughout the restaurant but I didn't see anyone. I had expected a well built man in an army uniform.

I had to pick up my phone and dialled the number that called. 'I am in the restaurant. I can't…" just as I was about finding the sentence, I spotted a young handsome man. He was seated gently while his eyes schemed through out the surroundings.

'I have seen you." I said and ended the call. I moved swiftly and I walked to his table. Taking my seat, he looked at me fiercely.

My heart raced against my chest slowly. My face was slowly in panic. He looked dangerous but subtle. ‘This is the man I need for the job.'
