Jane's POV
Before my eyes were flashes of memories of how Ray pretended as if it wasn't him all this while. ‘But how did he hide the tattoo?' The answer to that question hung in the air. I stared directly at my wall and my lips curved with a smile.
I laid a book on the document I was reading before I got the good news from the police. With haste, I walked out of my office and I went directly to my car.
'Where are you going, ma?" My driver asked me.
'To the police station." I replied to him with a calm voice.
After a few minutes, I arrived at the police station. I calmly stepped out of my car like a heroine. I adjusted my sleeves with butterflies in my stomach.
'Should I follow you, ma?" My driver asked me because he noticed I was in a very good mood. I swung my hair towards him directly before I shot a glare at his face and glanced all through to his toes.
'Would you like to sleep in one of their cells?" I arched my eyebrows with sarcasm laced underneath my voice.
He grunted with displeasure. A discharge of bitterness was on his face. 'I will just wait for you here." He concluded.
'Good." My reply was firm as I stepped forward aiming inside the company. In another few minutes, I was inside the police station.
'Good day, ma. Are you Miss Jane?" A police officer who had stood in front of me asked that question.
'Of course. Can I see the criminal already?" My voice sharpened out in curiosity.
'Of course. Please, follow me." The police officer informed me and I followed him until we got to a door which he opened.
There Ray, my cousin, was seated tied down to a chair.
'Why tie him down here instead of locking him up?" I asked her officer.
'We brought him from the cell to this room so he could meet with you." He explained and I understood him at once.
I exhaled before sitting before him. As soon as I was seated, his lower lips curved with a dark smile. As if he wasn't affected by what was happening to him.
'Why are you smiling? Is anything funny?" I asked, shooting a sharp glare at his face. While I watched him with degradation.
He shot a disgusting glare at me and groaned slightly in pain. 'Well, well! I have my cousin here. Will you believe me if I told you it was all a mix up? The police don't know how to do their damn job." He expressed it with an imposing tone. As if he was telling the truth.
I glanced at him from his head to his toe in disgust. 'Lies upon Lies, Ray. How did you escape from the hospital in the first place?" I asked, my eyes towering across his body.
He chuckled as if he was tickled. He widened his eyes while he sucked his tongue. 'I don't have anything to say to you, Jane. You can take your leave already!" He spoke with a deep voice. Making it seem like he was threatening me to leave.
'Shut the hell up, you shameless man! How did you hide the tattoo? Gosh! And you made it seem as if I was a fool in the presence…" Before I couldn't finish speaking, he interjected.
'You are indeed a fool, Jane! If you ain't a fool, you won't keep me tied up here!" He spoke violently.
Those words twisted my belly and I felt his words just caused me stomach pain. 'Shut up! I do not expect you to still keep talking in my presence. It was your way of life in the past that made you suddenly disappear. Who knew what you might have put your hands on? Clearly, you are a disappointment and that job you have with me has been terminated.
Hearing that, he scoffed. 'You never wanted me to have that job and that was the reason I wanted to have the whole company. If not for the police that intercepted my plans, you would be crawling in debts while I swim in your money." He spoke with pride. There was no iota of remorse in his voice.
I was becoming more upset with the words coming out from his mouth. For me not to be violent, I stood on my feet and turned to leave.
He laughed out loud while I walked away. I clenched my fist and faced the police. 'My cousin is out of his mind. Torture him until he confesses to everything." I gave the order aloud so that he would hear each word from my lips.
'Okay, ma'am." The police replied and I left the police station. Getting inside my car, he started the engine.
'I am sorry to ask. Who pissed you off?" My driver asked after seeing the kind of facial gaze I wore.
'Mind your business or lose your job!" I responded in a harsh manner and he had to gulp in the saliva in his mouth fiercely.
'I am sorry, ma." He replied in a low tone and drove me back to my company.
Upon getting back, I went to my office. Seeing the damages Ray had caused on a perfect building… I flashed back to how he was laughing even after being caught and how he continually spat lies out of his lips. ‘He is definitely going to pay for damages and after that, I am going to make sure he spends the next ten years of his life in prison.' My heart hardened.
I returned to my chair and removed the book I had laid on the piece of paper before me. I removed the paper and started reading through.
Each clause on the agreement was clearly explained. I took my time to each line and to understand what it meant.
‘Could Francis be telling the truth?' I think I was about to find out. I signed the paper before me and I placed a call across to the secretary.
She rushed down to my office immediately when she saw my call. 'You called me, ma."
I packed a piece of paper into the document. 'Make a copy of this document and kindly send this document to Mr Francis." I said before extending it to her.
'Okay, ma." She collected it and left my presence.
