Jane's POV
Ray removed his leg from my table and he looked at me with surprise. 'Take your place? You are my cousin. Why would I want to do that?" He asked with a serious gaze.
I shot a deadly glare at him. 'You should ask yourself that question and you know what? Just get out of my office. You disgust me!" I spoke fiercely.
Ray was taken by surprise. He stood on his feet and adjusted his shirt. 'I will come back when you are in a good mood." He said and walked out of my office.
I hissed inaudibly. His perfume irritated me and I managed not to puke. Reminding myself of the conversation I heard, I tapped my finger on the table before me… ‘Gosh, he is such a pretender.'
My door creaked and I lifted my eyes to look at who came through. ‘My secretary.' I echoed silently and relaxed backwards.
'I need some time alone. What is it?" I asked her with an inconvenience in my voice.
'I am sorry, ma'am. I wanted to remind you about the meeting with Mr Francis since the day is closing and I didn't hear anything from you." She informed, halting at a point where she could hear what I was saying
'I will attend to Mr Francis today. Tell him I am on my way." I gave her a response and she respectfully left my presence.
I puffed out some breath from my nostrils and stood up on my feet. I cleared my table and I locked my drawer.
Walking out of the office, I locked my door and headed outside. My driver opened the door and I walked inside the car. Sitting my ass comfortably, 'I am headed to Beijing Restaurant." I gave the order.
He started the car and I was drenched in thoughts behind him as he drove. A few minutes later, I arrived at the restaurant and I stepped down from the car. Pacing majestically, I walked into the restaurant scanned through the room only to see Mr Francis seated on a classic table.
Without further ado, I walked up to him and I sat down, looking at his face.
'You are welcome, Miss Jane. Thank you for coming. What would you like to eat?" He asked like a gentle man.
I maintained my gaze at his face. 'And where is the waiter?" I asked him, because I didn't see anyone standing to attend to us.
'It is automated. Just say whatever you want and in a few minutes it will be on your table." He detailed.
That was surprising. I have not been to a
the Beijing restaurant. Although it's fame was across the whole country. I just decided not to come but now that I am here, I regretted not coming from the start.
'I will eat Marshed…" I indicated what I wanted and he also ordered his.
While we waited for the waiter to come by. He started speaking to me.
'I know you are wondering the essence of this meeting up. Let me get to it… I need your help." He said, his eyes rolling within its socket.
'My help? Okay… what do you need?" I asked him.
'You should know a man in the marketing sector called Mr Atlas. He is at the verge of bringing my company down. This man literally stops my goods from being distributed." He explained.
I know Mr Atlas very well and he doesn't seize goods from circulation except they are harmful. I glanced at him half-way. 'What good were you trying to market?" I asked him.
'That is not necessarily important. Will you help me get him to approve my goods into circulation?" He was rigid with the level of communication he wanted to share.
'Mr Francis, if you are not willing to tell me the whole truth. I am afraid I can't help you." I said, trying to get up from where I was seated.
'Okay wait. The product is not harmful. It's actually to help people relieve mental stress. Mr Atlas hated me and so, he didn't want me to make a lot of money and that is why he didn't let us get into circulation." He explained.
But I didn't buy it. All I saw in his words were deception and lies. 'You know what? Before I can help you, I will need to test the product for a month. If it doesn't have any negative side effects, I will help you speak with Mr Atlas but if it does, I won't be part of it." I said.
His palm formed into fist as he grinded his teeth. He was trying his best to maintain his cool when the waiter finally brought the food. Placing it before us before he took his leave.
'Thank you, Miss Jane. I will instruct one of my workers to bring the product to you." He informed me.
'Okay." I replied to him.
His face hardened as he ate the food in front of him. I knew he was okay with my response. And I knew to what extent he could go just to prove to me that his product was a good one.
We finished eating and the both of us left the restaurant in one piece. It was late at night when I finally returned home. ‘Only a fool will believe the word that comes out of Mr Francis' lips. I need to hear from Mr Atlas.' I had to call Mr Atlas that night.
I was laying on the bed when I opened my mouth to speak. 'Hello, good evening, Mr Atlas." I was cheerful.
'Miss Jane. Getting a call from you this late is rare. Is there anything the problem?" He asked further.
'Why did you seize Mr Francis' products?" I asked calmly.
'Oh! Mr Francis products are harmful to human health and that is the reason I didn't allow for its circulation." He explained.
'Can you explain more about the health risks?" I asked him.
'Bleeding, dry cough, dizziness and eventually leads to death if you continue taking it." He explained better. And this time, I was scared.
'That's bad. But why would Mr Francis want to sell that kind of product?" I asked him.
'It will sell a lot because the product cures mental fatigue and it creates this illusion of excitement. People will get addicted and eventually die."
'Gosh. Mr Francis only cares about his pocket. Thanks for explaining to me. Have a nice night." I said and he ended the call.
