Late at night, when Arabella was sleeping, she heard a weird sound as if it was a predator. Her eyes snapped open, she sat up on the bed and looked around but nothing was strange. Everything was peaceful and calm.
Getting up from the bed, she wore an overcoat for her nightgown and walked out of her room. Then she slowly got out of her house and looked at a certain place. Even if she couldn't see anything, she watched it.
Instantly, her wolf began to struggle from pain. She felt her body was numb, the parasite was working again. Clenching her fists she ignored her wolf's cries as she walked towards the dark place she was looking at.
The wind was chilly, only the moon was giving the light while everywhere was dark and dangerous. Her father once said, don't ever walk out at the late-night but now she's ignoring her father's words.
She stopped at the place she was looking at, then she heard the same sound she heard before. Then she realized she had come into a maize yield. She was shocked seeing it, how far did she walk to come here?
Hitting her own head, she turned to leave. But she was just shocked, seeing a light moving. Is there anyone who walks inside of this at this hour? She asked herself but she didn't care. Feeling the danger, she started walking, but her heart stopped seeing another light moving.
Her wolf growled inside of her, feeling danger, she calmed herself for a while and started to run but too bad she could not find the way, she could only see high corn plants and moving lights through them.
She growled loudly wanting to fear anyone who was staying there. Then she ignored everything and started to walk. Her eyes were sharp and murderous, they were glowing. Her wolf was giving her the vision because it was dark, she possessed golden color wolf eyes and they had a predator look on them as if she was ready for hunting.
She heard a sound as if there was someone who was following her, she didn't look back and she wasn't scared. She was looking ahead as a female warrior who was waiting for her prey to come closer to her. Her claws had already prepared for a fight, wanting to rip someone's throat.
She smiled, feeling that her arrogant wolf was giving her strength for a great fight. Then the sound increased as she heard a grunt of a creature.
She stopped and slowly looked back, she was shocked looking at the creature in front of her. What was that? She asked herself. The creature was not going to attack her and it was obvious. But she felt it was a bedtime horror story that her father told her.
"AHHHHHHH!" Suddenly, her body went numb as she screamed. She felt the parasite inside of her acting aggressively. Her body trembled and she fell on the ground while the creature was gritting his teeth at her. Every step he took closer to her, the parasite inside of her wolf went crazy and sucked her blood with much force.
The creature was waiting until she became weak, now she was weak and it was his time to attack. Even though the creature had a similar profile to a human, he looked horrible. Her mind was astounded. The creature moved closer to her but before he could even touch a strand of her hair a furious growl came with a huge jet black wolf who pounded into the creature's neck.
The wolf didn't take much time to rip the creature's head off of his body. Then he threw the creature's head at her feet and growled angrily.
Arabella's heart was beating fast seeing the wolf in front of her, she was happy beyond imagination. It was none other than Lucien. She smiled at him enduring the pain the parasite was giving her.
Within a minute, he shifted back to his human form and looked at Arabella with both fury and disgust. Then a sneer appeared on his face.
"I could have let trash die here. But as the alpha I couldn't do it, so keep it in your head and don't think it highly," he said contemptuously.
"What was that?" ignoring how his words stabbed her heart. She asked him. Walking towards her, he heartlessly grabbed her from her arm and dragged her out of the maize yield.
"Don't act like a baby Arabella, you know what happens every night here. Keep your goddamn proud brain aside and don't step out of the house" he snarled.
She was shocked to hear him. every night? What was he talking about? Nothing happened the night before.
"I really don't know what happens at night. How can there be a creature here?" she asked.
Then he stopped. pushing her towards her house, he growled.
"Don't you know that there is a door opening to an unknown world inside of the forest? Every fucking night a creature comes out and hunts a woman or a kid or a man. Today it could have been you"
"Don't act like an ignorant girl, Arabella. We are staying up for the whole night wanting to find that damn door while you're making more troubles"
Hearing him shouting at her, she bit her lower lip and lowered her head. She never knew this, and no one had told her. How can she even know it? her heart was throbbing. He had never shouted at her like that before. Even if she did the wrong thing, he would just be angry with her for a few minutes and then come to her with a smile asking her not to do the same thing again.
"I didn't know... I will be careful. Thank you Lucien" she muttered, turning to leave.
Then she hugged herself and walked towards the house but she stopped hearing his voice.
"I'm getting married at the end of this month. Stay away from me from now on" he said.
His words stabbed into her heart, tears leaked out of her eyes and she slowly turned back and looked at him. Her lips parted wanting to say something to him but words didn't come out even if she forced them.
She looked into his eyes, the suffocating feeling inside of her chest grew harder. Her body was trembling, her mind was in a daze, and couldn't think anything properly. Failing to endure the pain inside of her chest, she lowered her head and walked away without looking back.
Even if he denied it, she was his real mate. No matter how long it would take him to realize it, he will definitely know that he was keeping a fake mate while throwing his real mate away from his life.
