Luana was almost trembling.

She was so pure and innocent, and she had never even been in a relationship with a man until now.

Devoting herself to growing up in the Collins family, Luana Casavia really didn't have time even to be interested in the opposite sex.

She only heard a few times that Beatrice Collins - her employer's daughter, was romantically involved with different men. But that was the extent, as Beatrice never brought men to their home either.

Luana wondered what it would be like to be in a relationship like that.

Does your heart flutter? Do you think about the same thing every day? Or is your world only centered around him?

Luana is innocent when it comes to romance. She even wondered to herself how someone could love and then leave.

Why is there a word of separation when two people have decided to love and accept each other?

Is love only limited to words, and can it be lost over time?

Luana is really blind to that. So is the interaction with the opposite sex, which the girl rarely passes.

And now, when Rey stood not far from her with only an undershirt wrapped around his upper body, Luana didn't know what to do.

'Should I run?'

'Should I scream?'

'Or do I report this crazy man to the police?'

All kinds of questions and prejudices were running through her mind, while at the same time, Luana knew she didn't have much time.

Rey was getting closer.

A smile with many meanings could be seen at the corner of the nobleman's lips as Rey stepped slowly to the edge of the bed.

The man wanted to bully Luana and get back at her for the incident at the dinner.

"Hey, back off!" Luana exclaimed again. "Back off, I say! Or I'll scream!"

Rey smiled with a sneer.

"Just scream," he sneered dismissively. "Do you think people will come if you scream?"

Luana nodded quickly.

"Of course! Help will come to people who are in danger, you know!"

Rey really wanted to laugh right now. But thankfully, the man could restrain himself very well.

The girl lying on the big bed looked so scared, and Rey knew Luana wasn't being funny. It was just that the sentence and how Luana said it managed to awaken Rey's sense of humor.

"Are you in danger now?" the man sneered again. "What kind of danger are you in when you're with a man like me, Luana? What part of me is dangerous?"

Luana blinked her eyes. Half of her did not expect Rey to say something like that, even though she was clearly at the highest level of fear right now.

"You!" Luana exclaimed without lowering her voice. "You are the danger! Everything about you is a danger, don't you know?!"

This time, Rey couldn't help but laugh. Just like that, the man's laughter filled the room while Luana reflexively frowned.

'What's so funny?' she wondered. 'Why is this guy even laughing? Oh my... Please save me from him at all costs!'

But Rey did not back down at all. In fact, one of the man's legs had now begun to climb onto the bed as if to say with a gesture that he was not playing around.

Luana clearly looked frightened, but the woman had nowhere to go. Her eyes blinked a few times; now, she could only reach for the blanket beneath her.

She had to protect herself, though she didn't know if that would help her.

The closer Rey got to her, the emptier her mind became. She couldn't focus because all she could think about was avoiding.

"Did Mare tell you anything?"

Rey's voice dominated the room again as he sat on the bed's edge. The distance between him and Luana was getting closer, but Rey was giving Luana a chance to breathe freely now.

Luana gasped. The blanket she had pulled up was already covering her, as the woman was now leaning against the bed's headboard with her hands clenched on the sides of the blanket.

"Say... what?" she stammered, pretending not to know.

Rey grinned.

The man's feet were still stretched out on the floor, though his gaze was straight at Luana.

"Do you know what you did wrong today?"

The question from Rey pierced Luana's heart because it was the second similar question she had gotten in one day.

"I know," the girl said softly. Her eyeballs rolled, followed by a slow breath.

Luana tried to pull herself together, summoning the courage to explain.

"Mare explained everything," she said later. "But I didn't know there was such a rule in this family. You only told me to refer to myself as Luana Lueic, but you didn't explain that I couldn't address other men."

Rey was silent, watching closely how Luana's pink lips moved slowly as the girl gave an excuse.

And that reason sounded reasonable, as no one had mentioned their family rules to the nobleman's fake wife. On further examination, it wasn't Luana's fault entirely.

"I didn't say you shouldn't greet other men," Rey countered. "As a noble, you are, of course, allowed to greet everyone. It's just that no one is allowed to touch you except me."

Luana did not know what was happening to her. Suddenly, her heart was beating very fast. It was as drumming inside her chest, making it difficult for her to breathe.

'Wait a minute... what did he just say?' Luana thought. 'Why am I pounding like this?'

Rey swallowed.

"I believe Mare also told you that you are not allowed to greet other men if I am not beside you. Do you understand that now?"

It took Luana a few seconds before she nodded her head.

The girl had a lot of things she wanted to say, but it was not her place to criticize the rules implemented in the Lueic family.

And since she was now Rey Lueic's wife, she had no choice but to comply.

"I will do as you say," Luana replied. "But I also have one thing I want to ask for."

Rey winked.

"Actually, you have no right to ask," the man said. "But fine, say it, and I'll think about whether it's possible or not."

Luana paused again before continuing her sentence.

"Just like I have to follow your family's rules, you must also tell me every detail of what I should know. I will only follow what you say to avoid unnecessary mistakes," Luana said.

Rey was still silent as he digested word after word that slid from Luana's pink lips.

This marriage must have shocked the girl, and Rey knew she actually owed Luana a favor. Because it was the girl willing to walk beside him at their wedding, and it was the girl who had saved his family's reputation.

"Okay," Rey said briefly. "Now move over."

Luana blinked again, not knowing what Rey had just asked her to do.

Seeing that Luana remained where she was, the handsome nobleman spoke up again.

"Do you want the right or prefer the left?" he asked again.

Luana still didn't seem to understand, as the girl's body remained still with a puzzled look in her eyes.

"Where should I shift to?" she asked, half worried. "Actually, I like the right side."

Rey nodded faintly as the man moved slowly to climb the bed. Leaving Luana to occupy the right side of their large bed, Rey chose to occupy the left side of the luxurious bed.

Luana was still frozen, struggling to digest the situation when Rey was lying beside her.

The dashing and athletic body of the nobleman lay straight, with his head resting on the pillow.

Luana turned her head, unconsciously watching Rey closely now.

The man no longer made a sound, but his hand moved to turn off the lamp on his left side. The death of the lamp caused their room to become even dimmer because now only the lamp on Luana's side was still on.

"I'm used to sleeping in the dark," Rey whispered later. "If you want to sleep in the dimness, this is enough for me."

Luana was still tongue-tied, but inwardly, she was grateful that Rey was being friendly tonight. She should be able to do the same if he didn't seem awkward.

Luana moved slowly, laying her head on the pillow beside Rey's.

Silence enveloped the room, as the night continued to creep up.

Luana moved her hand to reach for the light switch on her right side just as Rey's voice sounded very soft.

"I don't want you here," he said softly. "But know that as a nobleman, I cannot allow you to sleep in a place you do not deserve."

As Luana's fingers turned off all the lights in the room, Rey moved to change his position.

Turning his back to Luana, he crossed his arms over his chest as the man tried to close his eyes tightly.

Luana didn't reply, as only silence remained afterward.

'It's better this way,' Rey muttered as he closed his eyelids. 'Because I might hurt you if I lose control tonight.'
