Kaylin still remembers clearly in what condition they found her and how hard it was for her to lose her father like that.

So, giving herself a little push, Kaylin took a deep breath and shrugged, trying to sound casual.

"Listen, I know you don't like me and I'm not crazy about you. But don't you think my actions are at least believable?" Kaylin began, stepping closer to the Black Roses leader's girlfriend.

"I helped find you, you know. I'm the one who tracked down that damn Phoenix house and I'm also the guy who shot down three of the assholes who ruined the wedding a few days ago. "

"What do you mean?" Fanny held her gaze, waiting for Kaylin to continue.

"Meaning the last time you went out, it was with Gwen, an unreliable bitch you don't know well. I'm not forcing you, but I'm just suggesting that if you feel like living your life alone, I can at least protect you if something stupid happens."

Fanny was silent for a few seconds, curiously looking at the tall girl. "Why are you trying to be nice to me?" She then asked, her voice emphasizing her suspicions of an agenda she might have had against Kaylin.

Kaylin chuckled. It's clear that Fanny has been tainted by what happened before when someone was trying to be nice to her.

"What?"

"It's not that I don't trust you. As you said, I just don't like you very much. I was wondering why are you trying so hard to make us get along?"

Kaylin let out a snort. "I don't particularly like the bad side of my boss."

"So this is about Michel."

Rolling her eyes, Kaylin stretched out her hand and let out a frustrated groan. "Oh for the love of God, I'm not having sex with your boyfriend, Fanny. He and I had an affair for a few months and it was over before you guys even started anything. It never was. Now that it's a relationship, I would never lie to you about this either."

She almost expected Fanny to come back, but when Fanny just shrugged, Kaylin gave up and started walking away again.

"Anyway, I'll go."

"Wait."

Turning a second time, Kaylin frowned at the much shorter girl and waited.

"Huh?"

Fanny released her biting lip and let out a deep breath.

'Although I'm not eager to see the pub because I don't need pictures of where you and Michel used to connect, maybe we can…"Fanny walked away, hoping that Kaylin would take her out of her misery and understand what she needed without having to say it.

Kaylin is not.

"Huh?"

"Uhm, if you can delay going to the pub house, maybe we can go to the shooting range?"

Kaylin looked at Fanny with a blank expression, blinking a few times, her long eyelashes fanning beautifully. "What, you want to learn to shoot?"

"Is it that obvious?"

Kaylin tilted her head to the side again as if this time she was trying to look at Fanny from a different angle, scanning her from top to bottom. "I think it's natural after what happened at Andy's wedding. You want to protect yourself." Kaylin concluded the explanation made perfect sense in her mind.

Fanny nodded, no longer hesitant to cover up her insecurities. Somehow, the fact that Kaylin didn't laugh at her, made her feel comfortable enough to be honest.

Kaylin did not judge her as she would expect of the only female Black Roses soldier.

"I just hate that feeling of helplessness, you know?"

"Yes, I can teach you. Go get changed and meet me here in 10 minutes." Kaylin answered, checking the time on her phone.

"Why change clothes?"

Letting out a dry laugh, she gestured to Fanny's outfit.

"You want to learn how to shoot someone in the face? You need to look at the part. A semi-skirt won't do that."

And for the first time, Fanny actually laughed at one of Kaylin's jokes.

"I don't care, Eddie. I need specifics." Michel shouted as one of his members updated him.

He was fed up with the fact that their search went nowhere and to make matters worse, Charles had somehow fallen off his radar.

Michel couldn't get in touch with him all day, which was very unlike his deputy.

When he finally ends the call with Eddie, Michel is about to get up and find Fanny when the door suddenly opens and a sleazy Charles walks in.

And the second he did, Michel knew something was up. His second-in-command hadn't even knocked on the door and the look in Charles's eyes instantly made him realize it was serious.

Charles gulped as he stepped deeper into the office and stood in front of his desk. "Michel."

"What's up?" Michel immediately got up and circled the desk, scanning the face of his mafia brother.

"Someone..."

"No one died. At least not one of us."

Michel frowned, not understanding the situation. What is happening?

Charles has never acted like this in his life and Michel knows for a fact that nothing can make him fall in love.

So the fact that Charles is exhibiting any kind of suffering is very disturbing for the leader himself.

"Charles. Tell me. What happened."

Looking up at Michel, Charles swallowed again before he finally opened his mouth and spoke. "It's Archibald. He's dead."

"What?" Michel's eyes widened because he couldn't understand this information.

"How? Did you..."

"Not me..." Charles cut off Michel unnaturally, his eyes displaying an untold array of facts.

"Rosabella... she. It was her. She killed him."

Michel followed Charles into Rosabella's room, immediately noticing that she was nowhere to be found.

However, as soon as they looked around, they saw that the light in the bathroom was bright and shining through the slightly ajar door.

Pushing it away, Charles stepped inside and found Rosabella leaning against the sink, angrily washing her hands with soap and hot water, muttering to herself.

The skin on her palms was already starting to look rough and bruised, prompting him to immediately turn off the faucet, turn Rosabella around, and lead her back to the bedroom, gently making her sit on the bed as Michel stood crossed arms to the side.

When she noticed him there, Rosabella immediately began to panic, gasping for breath and uttering nonsense that the leader of the Black Roses couldn't understand.
