If Vengo's normally calm brother had this kind of tone of voice, he knew he needed to hear.
Vengo quickly nodded curtly, but still turned to Andy with a deep frown etched on his face.
"What about the girl? You still haven't answered me."
"Fanny's father was killed. They took her with them and we found this girl hiding. She's Fanny's friend." Andy explained without hesitation.
Carlos stopped grappling with new information as Audrey gasped out loud, one hand instinctively going to the baby bump and the other to her chest in shock.
"They arrested her? The Phoenix gang? Why did this happen?"
Charles sighed.
"Bring Carlos to the office, I'll go pick up Michel."
"I'll take the girl away." Audrey warmly reached out and replaced Andy's arm around Rosabella's with hers, taking her away from the three men.
---
Gwen had a broken lip and a bleeding cut on her cheekbone by the time Charles approached them.
As she sat in the middle of the basement, strapped to a chair, he was almost surprised that Michel hadn't done more damage yet.
Instead, he was standing tall in front of her, the fire in his eyes burning with pure hatred.
"Fanny asked me to take her and I just wanted to do something for her." Gwen groaned, the rope biting the exposed skin of her arm.
Michel didn't even respond to her, he let his actions speak for themselves once more as he reached out and tugged her head back by her hair, forcing her to look up at him.
"You're not just a whore, you're a lying whore."
He was about to slap her again when Charles held him back.
"Michel. Unlock this phone. We're wasting our time here."
Throwing Gwen a glance, he added a comment that made her shiver with fear.
"You can finish her off later."
---
Luckily, it only takes Gwen's fingerprint to unlock the phone, and while Charles and Michel aren't surprised about what's on it - text messages between Gwen and her father discussing their plans - Everyone in the office was shocked in silence.
Charles also plays the recording, making Carlos look more and more like he's about to get sick.
He remained silent after that, his expression, unlike anything he'd ever shown before, even as Vengo started asking questions like at what point would they suspect Gwen and do How did they get this proof?
'I've always known that Mr. Aiden is a fucking asshole but working with Phoenix? I can't believe this crap." He shook his head.
Not wanting to waste any more time, Michel impatiently stepped forward.
"So now you know everything, so I take you down to the basement. We still don't know where Fanny is." He slams a hand on the table, Vengo's eyes widening at the disrespectful tone.
Before he had a chance to warn his second-in-command, however, Carlos was on his feet, the few inches he had with his cousin allowing him to overtake Michel.
He was seething at the time as if what Michel had said prompted him to finally open his mouth.
"You let me sleep next to a treacherous snake. How long have you known this? How long have you been suspicious without even once considering talking to me? But no, all you can think of now is the nurse girl.
Andy swallowed.
He had a feeling that this wasn't going to end well, and by glancing at Charles standing to the left of his desk, he could tell that Charles was thinking the same thing.
"Think what you want, Carlos." Michel turned to Vengo again and, with both palms on the table, leaned toward him.
"We need to find her. Gwen probably knows more than we can glean from the text messages. She's talked to Mr. Aiden numerous times. There's got to be something we can squeeze out of her."
Carlos pushed Michel, hissing furiously. "Damn it, damn it."
But Michel pushed him back harder, baring his teeth at him.
"If your precious wife doesn't start talking soon, I'll shoot her just for that."
"You won't shoot her."
"We'll kill her anyway. She's a traitor."
"Michel," Vengo growled as he and Charles pulled them apart, both panting and ready to kick the other's teeth.
"Carlos, calm down. I understand you're angry." Charles intervened, creating a small distance between him and his cousin.
"Angry? That doesn't even include it. I'm so angry."
"Damned..."
"You two shut up." Vengo told Michel and Carlos.
"Gwen will have to bear the consequences for her actions. She betrayed us and we won't treat her differently because she's your wife, Carlos. We'll kill her. But because there are some personal feelings, I have to do this to prove that you won't be the next to go against us." He said, sitting down in a chair and running his hand through his hair, feeling exhausted from the events of the night.
"Do what," Carlos said, looking around the room to see if anyone understood what his leader meant, thinking nothing of it.
"You'll get rid of her. If you understand our family and want loyalty, you'll need to kill Gwen yourself. You can do it your own way, but unless you want to join the guy's scam that has sold us out, I advise you to think long and hard about what you want to do next."
The silence that fell into the room was suddenly so thick with tension and pressure they could have cut it with knives.
It was as if something was about to blow like a storm waiting to happen.
Carlos took off after that, just stomping away and slamming the door behind him.
Turning to Michel, Vengo let out a heavy breath before speaking.
"Now, Fanny - she's unremarkable and we won't be looking for her."
Michel's face was completely disbelieving as Andy and Charles shared a strained look.
"What?" His voice was hoarse, hoping that for some reason his hearing had let him down and Vengo didn't just say it.
"I told you already, Michel. I made it clear if she were to be targeted, I wouldn't waste my time looking for her. I want to focus on making sure every Davies is held accountable for betraying us. That's my priority right now."
