  Blair

I was still staring down at the paper on the desk, even when I heard the elevator doors open.

"Forgot s-" He paused and walked closer. "What?" He asked, hovering over me now.

I looked up at him and back down at it, unable to move or speak.

"This is my friend." I said shakily, stepping away from him.

"And?" He asked emotionlessly, folding his arms over his chest.

"You're going to kill him?" I questioned, tears immediately forming in my eyes.

His eyes started clouding over, getting darker with every word I said.

  "Yes." His voice deeper now.

"You can't do that!" I shouted, watching as he got closer.

"Who's going to stop me, Blair?" He asked, stopping infront of me.

"Please don't." I whispered as tears fell freely

I closed my eyes and looked up to the sky, begging God to make this all be a joke.

"I kill, regardless." He finished, about to touch my face,

But I stepped away, running toward the elevator. I got in and quickly pressed the button.

He stormed toward me, his eyes completely black.

But just as he got there, the doors closed.

There was a loud bang against the elevator doors before it completely went down.

  When it opened I ran.

  And I ran.

  And I ran.

  Without stopping.

I ran all the way home, locking all the doors and windows.

I sighed, grabbing an apple and walking up to my room.

I opened my door and closed it, turning around.

Only to come face to face with the devil himself.

I screamed, about to turn around and run when hands slammed down on the door above my head.

Chills flew up my spine as I heard his erratic breathing.

I ducked under his arm and stepped away from him, fearing that he would hurt me.

  He didn't turn around.

Raising his hand in the air, he smashed it down on the doorknob.

"You can't escape me." He said darkly, turning around and leaning his back against the door.

I ran over to the window but when I tried sliding it up, it didn't budge.

"You see, Blair. Everyone pays a price when evil catches up to them." He stated, walking over to me.

He circled me like a shark with his hands behind his back.

  I was his prey.

"Your friend, Sweetheart, has done some nasty things." He said, stopping infront of me.

"You're lying." I whispered, shutting my eyes.

"Because who believes the fucking Devil, right?" He said blankly, sighing.

"What has he done, Lucifer?" I asked, opening my eyes and looking into his.

  And at that moment,

I knew he was telling the truth.

His eyes were bright again and his features looked relaxed.

"Nothing that concerns you." He said, grabbing my waist and pulling me closer.

He leaned his forehead against mine and closed his eyes, sighing.

"Please don't kill him." I whispered, my voice cracking at the end.

His eyes opened again and unexplained emotions stirred in them.

"I have to." He said, kissing my forehead and pulling away.

He walked over to the door and I stopped him.

"I can't let you do this." I cried, sitting at the edge of my bed.

I put my head between my hands as I rocked back and forth, trying to calm myself.

"You don't know him, Blair." Zayn said deeply.

"I've never seen him do anything wrong!" I yelled, more tears streaming down my face.

  "I have." He replied.

"Blair. I'm the God of this town. When you cross me, you don't fucking pay with gifts or money." He paused.

He rested his hand on the doorknob and turned slightly to look at me.

"You pay with your life." He finished, ripping the door open and leaving.

I sat there and cried straight into nightfall.

When I was done my throat and my head ached painfully.

Rolling over, I quickly snatched my phone from on the nightstand and dialed his number.

  Please pick up.

  Your life depends on it.

  But no answer.

I cried harder, suprised that I didn't run out of tears.

As I laid there drifting off, I felt the bed next to me dip, startling me.

My eyes snapped open and I saw him staring at me.

Rolling over, I faced my back away from him,

Not wanting to see him right now.

  "Blair." His deep voice called.

  I didn't answer.

He sighed, grabbing my waist and pulling me to him.

He turned me around and held me there, looking down at my face.

His hand reached up and swiped my cheek, wiping away any tears that fell.

  "Did you.." I trailed off.

My voice was hoarse from all of the crying.

He shook his head slightly, before closing his eyes.

I let out a breath of relief and closed my eyes, trying to stop the tears.

"Why do you care for people?" His voice asked. His eyes were still closed.

"You need people if you want love, Lucifer." I said, adjusting my head on his chest.

His heartbeat was faint, making my eyes furrow in confusion.

  Is this normal?

"People are temporary." He said, looking back down at me.

"Not all of them are." I replied.

"My greed for killing prevents anyone from lasting a day in my hands." He admitted, his eyes misty.

"I'm still here, aren't I?" I asked, looking up at him.

"Who says I won't kill you too?" He questions, smirking at me.

He reached up and moved a strand of hair from in my face.

Then he left his hand on my cheek, stroking it with his thumb.

I closed my eyes, slowly falling into darkness.

  "Because I trust you."
