"Whatever you want to order, I'll pay for it today!" exclaimed Ken in the middle of a noisy concert held by a DJ performer on stage.
Alan and Harry exchanged glances before raising their glasses and cheering. "Yeah!"
The clinking of glasses in the air made Ken's impromptu party even more lively than before. The music coming from DJ Candy caught the attention of everyone at the VVIP table. Most of them started to go downstairs to join the beautiful women in the ball area, but Ken, Harry and Alan, chose to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere from the second floor while watching the people below.
"What's the occasion for you to treat us both, Ken?" Harry raised his voice, hoping his namesake could hear him over the loud music in the club. "Did you win the lottery, huh?"
Ken chuckled and placed the shot bottle in his hand on the table, before looking at Alan and Harry who were sitting to his right and left. "If this is the difference, it's more than the lottery. I just won the jackpot!"
"Wow, looks like you've got a new girl," Alan said as he raised both eyebrows to tease Ken. The man in the short-sleeved gray shirt followed Ken's lead, setting his glass down on the table, before finally continuing, "Yeah, right?"
"How special is this girl now?" added Harry no less enthusiastically. The man with the sharp nose that resulted from the combination of his Arab father and his mother who was a native jogja, now moved his face forward. "I think this is the first time I've seen you this happy just because you got a girl. Right, ALan?"
"Yep." Alan replied. Just like Harry, Alan had never seen such a happy face from Ken. Alan began to wonder how beautiful the woman his friend was courting was. "Don't you think you're dating an actress? Or a top model with a body like a Spanish guitar?"
"So, I'm seeing a girl." Harry and Alan perked up their ears, listening intently to Ken's explanation before the Chinese man continued. "Her name is Gabriella."
"Wow, what a great name," Harry chuckled.
"That's what it is. Incidentally, this girl is jobless because she just resigned from her previous job." Harry and Alan nodded their heads. Signaling that they understood the situation Ken was about to explain. "I offered her a job, just to work at my restaurant. I'm sure she'll accept the job and I can get close to her."
Then, Alan stepped back. His brow furrowed deeply as Ken and Harry looked at him. "Wait, wait. You mean... you're not dating this girl, this Gabriella?" he asked for confirmation. "You two are still in the approach stage, right?"
"Yeah, that's why I offered her to work at my place so I could get to know her."
This time, Alan had a displeased expression on his face. He wrinkled his nose, then looked at Harry before finally looking back at Ken who didn't seem to feel guilty at all about his desire. "I don't agree with your decision this time."
"Why?" asked Ken.
"Well, just think about it, Ken." Alan leaned forward, then raised both eyebrows with emphasis as he finally began to explain. "You hired her just for fun, you think she won't be disappointed?"
Ken chuckled briefly, then crossed his arms over his chest. The thirty-year-old raised one eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
" She needs a job because she needs money, by you giving her a job opening, she hopes she can make some money there. But what if she finds out that she's just being used by you, while she thinks that by working at your place, she can get a proper job?"
Harry chuckled and patted Ken's shoulder. "Wow, Alan is right, Ken. You're doing that to someone else's child, how heartless. It's just that he needs the money."
"Can you guys relax a little?" Ken looked at Alan, then moved on to Harry who had tapped him on the shoulder without warning. Didn't he know that his body was like iron, to the point that even a small blow could make Ken feel a little pain. "Anyway, I'm a professional person like this. I can tell the difference between work, personal and other matters. She works, yes I still pay according to the signature on the stamp, according to the initial agreement. But personal matters, that's another story. If she wants to be with me, why should I refuse? After all, I really like her."
"You're still doing it the wrong way, Ken. You're unfairly approaching her. What if there's something wrong with your relationship and her performance at work goes bad? Don't you think about that?"
"Oh my, ALan. How serious is your life," Ken protested. "I'm not a kid either, I don't need you to dictate like that. I'm just wondering if I could get him quickly if he were my junior."
"Why don't we make a bet?" Harry suddenly exclaimed enthusiastically. The owner of the wedding organizer business really liked challenges, especially challenges that could make money. Ken looked over quickly, while Alan seemed to have lazily responded to his two friends there. "If Ken can date that girl, Gabriella, within a week, Alan and I will give you two million. How about it?"
"I'm not in," Alan said curtly. "From the beginning, I didn't agree with Ken's crazy idea. Especially with all the bets. I mean, if you want to fuck a girl, go ahead, just not your coworkers or friends at the office. I don't want to join the bet."
Hearing Alan's long-winded rambling and clearly against his will, Ken decided to wave his hand in the air and ignore him. "Well, don't force Alan. He's not a fun person, what about you?"
Harry mumbled for a while, before finally saying, "Okay, why not?" The man then extended one hand forward. "One week. If in one week, you don't respond at all, you pay me two million. Deal?"
Ken raised one eyebrow. "Are you sure one week isn't fast?"
A chuckle escaped Harry's lips. "Tsk, are you now unsure of your own abilities, Ken? Where's the one that said you have great skills to attract girls, hm?"
"Shit, you're talking about it." Ken patted Harry's forehead without permission, making him groan quickly while rubbing his clean temples. "You're challenging me, huh?"
"Yes, I am. So, are we a deal?"
Without hesitation and full of confidence, Ken immediately shook Harry's hand which was extended to him again. "Okay, one week."
"Deal."
