Talia's POV
'Thank you." I said to Tracy after she helped me settle in. The day was already getting bright and I could very clearly see her sunken eyes.
'You're welcome." She mumbled out of courtesy. I've never really known Tracy to be that person though. I guess she was still just stunned from what I said, or was about to say earlier and decided to tune down the hostility.
'You should get some rest after your Alpha's morning routine." I added. I was enjoying scaring her with how much I knew, making her make assumptions about the other things I knew, things that might affect her.
'I see he shares a lot with you." I know it was a coy to make me say more, but it had more effect when I gave her in sprinkles, hopefully, I'd win her over.
'Good morning Tracy. It's the start of the day for you, but the end for me." I said, dismissively.
'You're the smartest of all I've ever seen him with. Little wonder he even made arrangements for you." She said, smiling, while she closed the basement door.
'I think you wanna hurry back to your Luna now." I was entertaining no more of her derogatory remarks.
She saw how pissed what she said made me, smiled, and walked out happy.
I was really weak. She had massaged me, with warm water and a really soft cloth. All on my mind was rest, but I also knew that where I was wasn't what I planned. And as often as situations changed, my plan had to too.
The good part of it was that I had the key and could operate howi liked.
But there was also a really big restriction on that, seeing that I was directly below my worst enemy, and that I was also in her house.
I couldn't come out during the day, that was for sure, and even at night, I had to be really sneaky.
If Vance wasn't so cornered, I'm very sure he wouldn't have made the mistake of letting me have the key to where I was. That was too much control.
Landon sure wasn't going to be getting anywhere near the palace anytime soon too. Everyone was wounded and needed to heal.
Vance definitely had the upper hand, being that he had an Alpha blood and would obviously heal faster than the rest of us.
But I wasn't so badly scratched, and definitely would be up and running as soon as Landon was.
I decided to rest, bhy my mind kept going back to the loving, lovely man I left in Silverhaven. I sure have made a lot of stupid decisions I life. One of which was leaving him. I praised myself for being decent enough to write the letter. I was indeed writing to to Ken, but I didn't know how many people would have read it before Ken found out, but that was of secondary concern.
I badly needed Ken to know that I was coming back to give us the chance never did.
The chance to be his wife again, the chance to be a mother to our kid, the chance for him to love me, to make love to me. The chance for us to really truly be a couple.
It's actually I had ever wanted.
I wished he would get my point, but that was also of secondary importance. Maybe I'd tell him about it someday.
But all that, seeing Ken, depended heavily on if I'd ever leave Moonstone alive. Landon stayed near the exit of Moonstone, he knew I was alive, he most definitely would be on the look out, so that was not an option.
I had to stay and really finish my business.
I now I said I was going to sleep and rest my body, but no one same, not like I even was, could sleep through all the thoughts going on in my head.
Vance was knocked out for a while so I had to take the baton. More like I had to do it alone.
It was then I discovered something.
Vance was out, but that also afforded me the opportunity to meet someone who was also very pivotal. Tracy!
Maybe she occurred earlier, maybe she did not but us being in close association now only naturally fitted he into my ever changing plans.
Tracy was to come again at noon, when her Luna, Nadia was asleep. That time around, she was to come with some water and soap for me to clean up, food and figure out the rest of the other things I needed.
The sum was out fully, I could tell from how it forcefully sent its rays into the little crack on the door. It must've been really hot out there. A hot time for Moonstone, literally and figuratively.
I heard footsteps outside.
My heart started racing and thumping. Maybe I was yet to maser how Tracy walked, but it sure didn't sound like hers.
I was wounded and defenceless. I shouldn't have trusted Vance when he offered. I should've known it was too good to be true, and that he was always a slippery cunning motherfucker
He could have arranged for his boys to come get me and dump me on the most unheard of, of manners. It was nothing beyond him.
I decided to back away, far into the basement that looked somewhat like a cave, blending thoroughly with the shadows.
It seemed to be coming towards the basement door, and then, as if to confirm my suspicion, I heard a knock.
It was the most silent thirty seconds of my life. I didn't even breathe, nothing. I was scared to my bones.
'Where has this silly fuck run to?" I heard the voice whisper as it knocked again, more quietly this time.
I let out all the air I held in. It was Tracy, I could hear her scratchy voice. The voice that always made me feel inadequate, when I was newly Vance's wife. How could I gave forgotten such?
'Hold on." I replied to her.
I heard her release a tensed up breath.
'I thought you had run away." She said rudely, and let herself in with all the stuff she was carrying to her left and right, as quickly as possible.
'You wish." I shot back at her, spotting a menacing smile.
'You want me to say the truth? I really wished that you were gone." I was not in the least thrown back by her retort. It was such a Tracy-like thing to say.
'Oh well, not all wished come through, sadly." I snipped back at her. 'You wanna know something I've always wished for too?" I continued.
'I normally shouldn't care, but knowing you have no good bone in your body makes me kinda curious." Tracy replied to me.
'Firstly, I do, a lot of it. Secondly, I wish I met the former Luna." I said, making sure to sound as carefree, but also interested, as possible.
'Would that be all for now?" She asked. She was very ill at ease. I could tell from how she rushed every other thing she was supposed to do and scurry out.
'Oh yeah!" I replied, enthusiastically. 'Till I have other wishes you can satisfy." I said, smiling.
'You can come and lock the door. By the way, we should have a way you identify me. And I can't always knock. Today she thinks it some adventurous rodent, that might not work tomorrow. I'll slip a piece of paper in, all you have to do is be on the watch out. If I get no response in two minutes, I'm out of there." Tracy said all she had to say and left.
I was back to being alone. But I was already healing and getting better.
It's been over twelve hours since my encounter with Landon.
Landon was a lot of bad things, but he's also very relentless and determined. So I didn't have much time to waste. I quickly ate all the food Tracy could afford to snuggle out and started thinking about what adventure awaited me that night.
