Talia's POV

I'm both shocked and annoyed at Kael's guts. What does he mean by our kid? Are we going to have a kid? When did it happen?

'Are you surprised?" Kael seems to be having such a good time putting me in this situation.

I want to tear these clothes off my body and check for marks other than the already healing ones I sustained from my journeying through the forest.

'Don't be so dramatic." He said in a low tone. 'Don't act like you would not be off the roof if I hit you that way." He directs his eyes sensually to my private area and I feel the blood instantly run to my cheeks.

I want to stop the blush that is creeping up my face and giving him the joy of knowing he has such an effect on me.

I'm dumbfounded and out of words. As much as I can remember, I'm usually not like this. I either want to talk or I don't. Kael just has me staring at my feet with my fingernails picking each other in shame.

'Hey." He calls out to me, very gently, the manic smile and show of satisfaction having left his face. 'You looked like it was such a horrible thing to have done though." I could sense self pity in what he said. Probably a gut feeling that I did not find him attractive and that in the very best, I was repulsed by him laying his hands on me and talking less of having me that way.

The words are not coming. I kind of want to reassure him, telling him that it does not matter whether or not I found him attractive, and that what really counts is what he feels about himself.

I have the words and sentences perfectly formed and articulated in my head, but actually saying it is the problem.

'It's weird to still hear you say certain things, ' he starts. 'I know it's you, ' he continues, putting a stress on the last word, 'but I always had the person with the face you now bear wanting me. We were so perfect for each other. She wanted to be with me as much as I wanted to be with her. We loved each other so much nothing else mattered, not even ourselves." I look at his facial expression to confirm that I had not hypnotized him, with the amount of detail a hard guy like him just spilled, but I can see that he is in his right senses, and indeed, full form.

'Your mate's face did not come with all the packages you expected it to. The moon goddess who is forever always kind and smart did her thing." I say in a less lighter tone to him.

He seems to be deep in thought for a second, after which a naughty smirk creeps up his lips.

'Or what if she was looking out for me? What if this is a second chance?" He looks at me like I am something edible that he is about to devour.

'Dead those nasty ideas." I put it straight to him even though we both are holding back our laughter. 'I can't be your second chance mate." I say with a little shrug.

'I've heard a weird story about our Moon Goddess." He starts. I'm shocked because the transition in subject is not what I saw coming and besides it was totally unexpected. 'She also had quite an interesting, steamy, I dare say, love story."

He took a chair I never offered and made himself comfortable. It's his bedroom after all, what was I thinking?

We both are sitting and staring at each other, in the close proximity and good lightning, I actually see how good looking a man he is.

The suspense makes my interest more heightened. 'Fact or fiction?" I asked him, firstly, to know how to feel, secondly, to spur him to start the goddamn story that has me on the edge already."

'In a world filled with handsome and beautiful wolves," he starts his story in a tell-tale voice. 'There lived three children, all birth children of the Alpha and Luna of the pack."

'Mind you, they had alpha blood in all three of them." He continued, cutting into my very vivid imagination. 'The land was peaceful then, with just one united pack with their selfless and caring Alpha."

'Luna, that is her name -one that every Alphas mate bears now-, she was a beautiful and proud wolf. More beautiful than her sister, Aurora. Her wolf was pure white, snow white, with bright golden eyes and she took proud steps when she walked."

Kael is doing a good job with the narration, and I'm doing even better at visualization.

'Skip to the main part!" I'm trying to keep my excitement down, but I'm doing a really poor job at it. My legs are shaking involuntarily and the beat my tapping fingers had been making on the back of my palm just gives me away, totally.

'Luna was the apple of every mature wolf's eye, and worst still, she was not given a mate, none at all. She felt no mate bond with anyone, neither did anyone feel such with her." I feel bad for her that she does not have a mate, because females without mates are usually unprotected and preyed on these days, anyways, I don't want to imagine the conclusion, I want to hear Kael say it.

'The pack started experiencing sudden infant deaths and wondering what went wrong with the peace they have been enjoying since they all knew life. It kept growing worse as food crops began to perform badly and rains stopped falling, finally, full moons ceased appearing, they only had it partially or not at all." The mystic look on Kaels face adds a shade of goth to the narrative.

I want to beg him to skip all the bad details that are making my heart tether on the edge of my chest and actually head to the point where she becomes the Moon goddess, to whom every Alpha now and forever will continue to submit, the one woman-god who rules the lupine world.

'Finally, it was said that to stop all that was happening, a child of the then Alpha had to be sacrificed, a meeting held with the beta and gamma ended up in nominating Luna as the one who is to pay such a dear price." How does that work! Why her?! Why do the worst things happen to the most beautiful?! Like me…

'Fuck!" I screamed in my seat, like my little tantrums could change history.
