"But mom I-" I suppressed my lips.
"No but." She narrowed my eyes at me.
"Don't be mad at me, I'm going." I raised my hand as a surrender and walked towards them.
"Hi Rachel, how are you?" I hugged her.
"Fine, Riya." She gave me a polite smile.
"Hi, Aunt, hmm- hmm—" I started to fidget my finger, the moment feels like presenting my seminar in front of a bunch of students for the first time.
"I will give you some space." Rachel nodded her head and walked away.
"Riya, you look so beautiful." Mrs. Miller stroked my hair so affectionately.
"I'm sorry for being rude to you in the hospital. It's like-"
"No, problem dear. I can understand." She gave me a weak smile. "You are the perfect woman for my Kayish and Warren did a good job by offering a job in his company."
"What are you saying?" I asked confused by her statements. Please no more suspense.
"Riya." She held my hand. "There is a small history behind your promotion and transfer from California to New York. They planned everything and it went well as they expected." She briefed the story in two lines.
"Aunt, you mean dad and Mr. Miller were planned this?" I asked completely shocked by the exposure of this news. She nodded her head to confirm whatever running in my mind is correct.
Oh, God! They planned everything!!! I can't believe this.
"Thank you so much, Mom. I have no words." I hugged her making her chuckle widely.
"You two are destined to each other that's why fate brought you together." She drew her hand through my forehead.
"Be happy my daughter." I bit my lips, not wanting to show my weakness in front of her.
"Ju- just a minute." I excused myself and walked towards dad who is talking with someone on the phone. He disconnected the call once he saw my tear-stained face.
"What happened princess?" worries hitched through his voice.
"You are an amazing dad." I hugged him and buried my face on his chest. "Why you didn't tell me that you planned everything?" I asked, my voice croaked.
"So, you find out our little secret, don't you?" He said casually rubbing my back.
"Dad!" I whined looking at his dark brown orbs. He let out a long sigh before he spoke. "Warren proposed this plan two years ago. At first, I said no because I don't want to hurt my daughter's feelings." I nodded my head to continue him further.
"Then a year later, he came to my office and asked me to reconsider his plan again. Truth to be told I was not happy when I sent you New York but a small hope stuck in the corner of my heart that I'm doing this for my daughter's benefit, and I succeeded." He gave me a proud smile.
"Now, don't cry. You deserve happiness." He wiped my tears with the pad of his thump.
"Warren is caring a lot about his son but Kayish hates his dad, for him, he is a horrible dad but I can't blame him either, he spent his childhood lonely because his dad didn't give proper attention to what a five-year-old boy could expect." He sighed in defeat.
"Warren was running behind his company for that he failed to show his affection towards his son but when time made him realize his mistake it was too late his son started to hate him out of his heart.
"As a dad, he didn't stop to love his son, he watched his every movement and find out you are the woman his son loved in his life and about Sweety." I struggled to find a proper word when dad informed me about Kayish's dad and his love for his son.
"Dad, he is an amazing father. Kayish needs to know about his dad." I pecked my dad's cheeks and ran towards Kayish.
"Riya, what happened to you, you alright?" Kayish cupped my face eyeing me up and down.
"I'm fine." I shook my head.
"Then why are you crying?" He asked.
"It's just out of happiness." A small smile escaped from my mouth. "Kayish, I wanted to tell you something." I grabbed his hand and dragged him to the balcony.
"About what?" He raised his eyebrows questioningly.
"Your dad." He twisted his lips when he heard the word 'your dad' then averted his gaze away from me.
"Please Riya, don't spoil my mood. I don't want to hear about him." He said normally but the bitterness in his voice is not unnoticed by me.
Losing my patience, I initiated everything to Kayish that what I had recognized about his dad a bit earlier. He listened to everything attentively and the sour expression on his face changed into a shade of red.
He is crying. A pool of tears was started to fall through his cheeks.
He bit his lips to control his sob but failed miserably. "Kayish." I tried to take him in my arms, but he ran away in a blink of eyes like a lightning.
I followed after him and saw him hugging his dad tightly saying something again and again.
Everyone gathered there to see the grateful moments and in nth time for a day my eyes welled with tears. Today he rejoined with his parents.
"Mommy! Come with me." Sweety came and grabbed both my hands and led me towards the living room.
"Go, son. You can do this." Mr. Miller patted his shoulder pushing him forward. He took a slow and steady step, all the while his eyes are only focused on me.
Everyone's face is shining with armor as they have an idea of what's behind his movements and as unexpected he kneeled in front of me holding a ring.
"Will you marry me, once again." He asked nervously.
Electricity passed through my whole body and I stood there like a statue, it took me a second to realize I'm not dreaming. He wants to marry me once again. Why I'm going to say 'no' when It feels so good to real.
