Today marks the opening ceremony for my company's new headquarters.

I stand before the floor-to-ceiling windows of my top-floor office, gazing down at the bustling city below.


My phone lights up with two nearly simultaneous messages.

One from Brandon Shaw:

New partnership proposal in your inbox. Review when convenient. Congratulations on the new headquarters, Anna.


Another from Brian Shaw:

Anna, I've secured Series A funding. My company will be located directly across from your building... I'll continue working hard.


I read both messages without responding.

I pick up the internal phone, press a button, and speak with clear authority:

"All department heads to conference room one in ten minutes for the quarterly strategy meeting."

I turn away from the window and stride toward my own battlefield.

Their pursuit is their business.

My journey is toward the stars and sea.
