Lyall
Trenton and I strolled towards Aria and I smirked at her. Her face turned into an adorable red and Trenton snorted next to me. We both know that she had been eavesdropping on our earlier conversation.
“Did you hear all of our conversation or would you like to eavesdrop more?” Trenton said in a mocking tone and Aria turned redder. I have never seen someone blush that deeply before. It was fascinating to watch.
“I...I wasn't eavesdropping, you prick!” Aria exclaimed, obviously embarrassed.
Trenton clicked his tongue. “Sure, you weren't,” I let out a warning growl and Trenton stiffened, clearing his throat. “I'll leave you two lovebirds to it. I'll send a carriage in the morning.”
“You better,” I said and Trenton let out a laugh before disappearing into the night.
Aria stood in front of me with an unsure look on her face. “I don't think staying here is a good idea, Lyall.”
I raised a confused eyebrow, crossing my arms over my chest. “Why not?”
“Have you seen the state of the cabin?”
My eyes went round as saucers. I completely forgot that I had thrashed the place earlier. “Oh, no,” I said, speed-walking into the cabin. It was a complete mess. There was no way we could sleep here tonight. Aria joined me inside, shutting the door and I turned to her.
I sighed, completely annoyed at my mistake. “Oh, I'm so sorry, Aria. I completely forgot about this. I'll find a way to get us back into the palace.”
She paused. “But we won't be able to get back. Trenton left with the horse and he won't be back till tomorrow.”
“I'll just mind-link him or something and tell him to come back.”
She raised her eyebrows at that. “Wouldn’t that be unfair? He just left anyway.”
I huffed under my breath. “So you care about my beta now?”
She laughed. “Don't be silly, Lyall. I'm just a bit concerned. He brought me here after all.”
“Fine. So what do you suggest?”
“We could just clean this place up.”
My eyes widened. “Are you out of your mind? It'll take us hours.”
“We don't have to make it sparkling clean. We could just clean it up and make it livable.”
I rubbed my neck tiredly, glancing around the cabin. “I don't know, Aria. It looks like too much work.”
“Well, I'm not wasting any more time. You can just stand there or you can join me. Your choice.” She snapped and I smirked at her sassy tone.
I changed into some fresh clothes as Aria began cleaning up the room and rearranging the overturned objects. As she worked, I deliberated on finding another solution to the problem.
When she began picking at the shattered glass with her hands, I knew I had to interfere.
“Leave the broken objects. I’ll clean them myself.”
She huffed and muttered under her breath. “Now he decides to help.”
I chuckled. “I heard that.”
For the next few minutes, we worked in silence, and beads of sweat trickled down my face. Finally, we finished the last of the cleaning and the cabin was in livable condition.
Aria gasped, throwing herself onto the bed. “ Oh, goddess. I am exhausted.”
My eyes surveyed around the room and I nodded in satisfaction. “I'd say we did a really good job.”
Aria sat up, narrowing her eyes at me. “We? All you did was clean up the broken glass! I did most of the work!”
I chuckled. “Cleaning the broken glass was part of the work too.”
Aria hauled a pillow at me which I narrowly avoided. “Hey!” I laughed.
“It doesn't count if you made the mess!” She hauled another pillow at me and I smoothly dodged it, smirking at her.
“Well, the room is clean and that's all that matters.”
She raised an eyebrow, throwing another pillow and of course, I dodged it. “Oh, really? Well, all that matters is, you're taking the couch and I'll sleep on the bed.”
“What? Why? And would you please quit throwing pillows at me?”
“Because I said so.” She replied, throwing another pillow. I gaped at her, wondering how many pillows I had in the cabin.
“You can't tell me what to do. I'm your Alpha.”
“And I'm your mate!”
My stomach fluttered with excitement and my wolf yapped happily at her use of the word ‘mate’.
“Seriously, you won't let me sleep on the couch now, would you?”
“Watch me.”
“But this is my cabin.”
“I don't care.” She crossed her hands stubbornly across her chest and I took the time to observe my mate. My beautiful and breathtakingly stunning mate.
Even though she was sweaty from cleaning up the room, her dress and hair were a bit dusty from rolling on the ground with my wolf— she still looked stunning. I gulped, unable to take my eyes off her. I couldn't believe how lucky I was to have this epitome of perfection as my mate.
“What are you staring at?” She asked with a hint of worry in her voice.
“You,” I replied.
She seemed taken aback at my direct reply. “Why are you staring at me?”
“Because you are beautiful and I am in love with you.” Her mouth opened and closed in surprise and I suddenly lunged onto the bed, enveloping her in my arms and a surprised scream escaped her lips.
“What the hell are you doing?!” She exclaimed.
“Sleeping on the bed with my mate,” I said before crashing my lips on hers.
