The tears I had been holding in finally fell as I stared at Daneesha’s retreating figure. Her words were hurtful and I honestly know she was telling the truth. I did come between a king and his queen but in all honesty, wasn’t that a bit unfair to me? I was Lyall's mate.
I was as much his queen as Sheila was. But it was only Daneesha who knew about it, no one did, that's why they kept spewing insults at me when in reality, I deserved to sit next to Lyall. I should be his Luna. I didn't believe Daneesha would say something like that to me after knowing the condition I was in.

More tears streamed down my cheeks and I hurriedly wiped them off. I needed to find Lyall. To hell with what Daneesha said about giving him space. He was my mate. I needed to find my mate.
I hurried through the hallway and for the second time, I ran into someone. This time I fell and landed on my butt.
“Ouch.” I winced in pain.
“Oh, no. Are you okay?” A voice said and I looked up. My eyes landed on Trenton. “Oh, it's just you.” He said distastefully and I scoffed.
Despite the obvious displeasure on his face, he extended a hand to me and my eyebrows shot up in surprise.
“Will you take my hand or do you intend to sit on the ground all night?”

My cheeks coloured in embarrassment and I smacked his hand away. I stumbled to my feet with the obvious pain in my backside, dusting off my dress and a hint of amusement danced in Trenton's eyes.
“Have you seen Lyall?” I asked and his face morphed into a frown.
“No.” He answered a little too fast and I smirked. A tell-tale sign that he was lying.
“Oh, really?” I raised an amused brow. “You have not seen him at all?”

“I have not.” He answered. Again too sharply.
“Hmm,” I placed a finger on my chin, appearing thoughtful. “Maybe I should go look for him myself. Since he is not in the palace, I should search outside the palace grounds. Maybe take a stroll through the forest,”
Trenton's eyes widened slightly and I almost smiled.
“I mean the forest cannot be that dangerous but if something happens to me, no one would notice anyway or what do you think?”
He opened his mouth to speak but I quickly cut him off.
“It doesn't matter what you think anyway. I should go down to the forest. Even the Alpha wouldn't notice that his mistress is gone when he returns. He will definitely not blame his beta who was seen with her last—”
“Enough!” Trenton yelled, red-faced and I stifled a laugh. “I'll take you to him, alright? Just don't do anything stupid.”
I hid a smirk. That was too easy. “Well, what are you waiting for? Lead the way.”
He huffed and walked briskly through the hallway and I followed, struggling with my dress. After a few minutes of walking through the incredibly long hallways, I grabbed onto Trenton's tunic, breathing heavily.
“Slow…down.” I gasped and he turned around, eyes furrowed in displeasure.
“You're pathetic.” He spat and I narrowed my eyes at him.
“Try wearing one of these dresses and let's see how that turns out.”
He corked his head to the side, studying me and his eyes slightly twinkled with amusement which he quickly masked. He turned around abruptly and began waking.
“I won't slow down for you so you better catch up.” He said but I couldn't help but notice that his pace had slowed down remarkably.
We finally reached the stables and I looked around in confusion. “What are we doing here?” I whispered.
He gave me a glare that told me I just asked an incredibly stupid question. “We're getting a horse but if you would like to walk then be my guest.”
I clamped my mouth shut and watched as he untied a beautiful white horse. There was no time to admire the horse as Trenton helped me up and soon we were riding out of the palace grounds.
We rode for a while till we reached the bottom of a small hill. We dismounted and Trenton tied the horse to a tree.
“See that cabin up there? That's where Lyall is.” Trenton said and my eyes flickered over to the cabin. A look of recognition crossed my features as I remembered the cabin. I was brought here against my will by Lyall a while ago.
How things had changed. Now I came here willingly. We climbed up the hill and arrived in front of the cabin in no time. The door of the cabin was shut and not locked and as I looked inside, I was alarmed at the state.
What was supposed to be a beautiful cabin had been turned upside down in what seemed to be a fit of rage. My heart rate quickened as I entered the cabin and surveyed the damage. And worst of all, Lyall was nowhere to be found.
“What happened here?!” I exclaimed. “Where's Lyall? Is he hurt? Oh, no! Was he robbed?”
My eyes were as wide as saucers. Was it even possible to steal from the Alpha of all Alphas?!
“Calm down. He's okay. He probably just went out for a run, that's all.” Trenton assured me but I was still uneasy.
“Why is this place in shambles then? Did he do this himself?”
“He did,” Trenton replied.
A loud growl rang clear outside the cabin and my wolf jumped in excitement. He was here. My mate was here. I raced to the door, almost knocking down Trenton in the process. I ignored his loud protests and flung the door open.
There in all his majestic glory stood my mate in his wolf form. The big black wolf stood eerily still and its bright red eyes quietly observed me. I should be afraid. I really should. But I felt no fear. I was only in awe of his beautiful wolf form. I took one step toward it and I gasped as it bared its teeth, snarling loudly.
