ARIA.
The ride back to the Palace had to be one of the best. Lyall went from making us trot and savor the soft wind to galloping really fast and causing the wind to slap against our skin and make my hair whip into my face.
By the time we got to the gates, we were at the heights of our excitement, bursting into laughter and slowing down to a halt once we got to the Palace's entrance.

He lifted me out of the horse and gently placed me on the ground before handing the horse over to one of the stableboys who was still very much awake.
Once he returned to me, he let out a bright smile and pulled me to the other side of the Palace, well hidden from anyone's view. Then he took my hand in his and planted a soft kiss on it before brushing my hair back.
"I think I understand an inkling of what it feels like to be neglected by someone you truly care about. I want you to be in bed with me tonight but unfortunately, that can not happen as..." His voice died off and he sighed before looking into the skies. "Fuck this."
He snatched me by the hand and brought my hand to his lips. "Do you want to be in the same bed with me tonight?"
Surprise was the first thing I felt after he asked that. "But how is that possible if your wife is in your chambers? Daneesha now sleeps in the same room as me."
"Well, this Palace is not monstrous for nothing," He grinned softly. "Several rooms are waiting to be occupied and I have a room I haven't slept in in years but it is still kept clean from time to time."

"So you want us to go there?" I asked, loving this idea even if I was slightly nervous that things weren't going to turn out so well.
"Yes. I want to spend the night with you. C'mon, let's go." He pulled me by the hand and drew me after him and as we walked through the dark halls, I heard the sound of our breaths and the sound of our muffled footsteps against the ground. We climbed a step winding up into an entirely different wing. I knew of course that neither of our rooms were there and the thought of spending a night here with him more than excited me.
We stopped before a door and he took out a bunch of keys from his pocket before twisting the knob open. He pushed the door open and we both walked in. I savored the scent of vanilla and chamomile that filled the room, loving as it wrapped around me. I stood in the middle of the room, looking around. I could see clearly even in the dark and I knew that this place was a special place for him. It was neatly arranged and there were more paintings on the wall than in his chambers. These paintings were surreal and unrealistic like it had been borne out of the abstract.
I felt Lyall stand behind me and he placed both of his hands on my arms before turning me to face him. He slipped his arms around my waist and pulled me in, planting a soft kiss on my lips before he lifted me off the floor.

My legs instinctively wrapped around his waist and so did my arms. "I think I like this room better."
He chuckled and brushed back my hair. "That's because it tells more of who I am than the other one. I tend to pour out a lot of myself here."
"Why? I am curious." I replied, tracing my fingers up and down his neck and watching his eyes roll back in pleasure.
He shrugged and chuckled. "Sheila has filled that space with her things. When I started to do the same, she complained that the room was going to get cramped up. I told her it was a really large room and would still have enough space after all of this but she kind of flipped out and flared, talking about how I never let her have anything her way. Well, I let her win. Got mad that night and walked out on here. Then I came here and I kept doing that every night for the whole week. I found some sense of peace here and I started to draw like I used to but I never let anyone see it. I didn't return back to the chambers until she came herself, telling me how much she missed and wanted me back."
"And I am sure you agreed."
He smiled and nodded. "She's not just anyone. She'st friend. Plus we wouldn't want rumors flying about us sleeping separately. People have a way of twisting words just to make it interesting and spreadable."
I nodded in understanding. "Do you think anyone noticed?"
"Everyone is asleep," He chuckled and walked us to the bed. He let me drop and I let out a soft laugh as his eyes raked down my body. He joined in moments later, hovering above me and assaulting me with kisses before he laid down beside me. I was in a fit of laughter most of the time, laughing at the jokes he kept cracking.
Sleep refused to come so he showed me his paintings. There were a few at the balcony, encased in glass and they had to be the most beautiful representation of the sunset. When I asked him why he left it outside, he told me he wanted it to be there so his painting could meet his muse, which was the sunset.
I'd never seen this soft, artistic part of Lyall and now, I knew I was fully smitten. I felt like the luckiest woman on earth. In just one night, he had introduced me to his life. In just one night, he had shown me a world of his own, a different person entirely and when we went back to bed, I slept in his arms as the happiest woman on earth.
But it was short-lived as the next morning, Sheila came, banging on the door.
