ARIA:
For the first time in a while, I slept off really peacefully in his arms. He didn't leave me tonight like he did the other times. Infact, he promised to stay until I woke up and when I asked about Sheila and how she was going to react to it, he told me he was going to have it handled.
Like he had promised, I woke up to him in the early hours of the morning to find him staring at me.
"Good morning, beautiful," He whispered in his deep gruff voice that nearly had me melting into a puddle. He leaned towards me and captured my lips in his, gliding his lips over mine as I moaned softly.
I threw one naked leg over his and he grabbed it, sinking his fingers into my thigh as he pulled me in. He didn't stop until we were both out of breath.
He cupped my cheeks, staring into my eyes with the softest expression on his face. I loved how he could instil fear in others and make me feel wanted. I loved how he was able to command and stir an army of thousand warriors and still be in my hair. Still made love to me like I was all that mattered.
"Good morning, Lyall. How did you sleep?"
"Perfect," He replied with a raise of his fingers. "Very perfect. What about you?"
"Same. It's always the best when you're in my arms," He replied and planted a soft kiss on my forehead before pulling back and staring at me again with a smile. "I'd love to stay in bed with you all day but I have a lot to do. A lot to attend to."
I fell back into bed, whining and flipping my legs from side to side like a little girl throwing a tantrum. He laughed all through, pulling me into his arms once again and kissing me for a long time.
When he finally pulled away, he pushed strands of my hair to the side. "I promise, I'll be back, okay?"
"How do I believe you for sure that you mean it?"
"Because I do. I always come back." He slowly slipped out of the bed, grabbing his slacks as he slipped his powerful legs into it. I threw my arms around him, catching him off guard and pulling him back into the bed. We fell into a tangle of limbs, bodies and sheets, laughing at the top of our voices and he lifted me back up in the air with my arms still wrapped around him.
"Aria. Can you let me go about my daily duties? I kept to my promise of staying till you wake up and I assure you that I would keep to this promise also. Trust me, okay?"
"Quite hard," I fell back into the bed. "But I'll try to."
He patted me on the cheek before pulling back and grabbing his shirt. "Good girl. I'll see you around, okay?"
I nodded and watched him leave before falling back into the bed and biting my fingers. I needed him back here. Fuck, I needed to see him naked once again.
I went back to last night, getting random flashes of our sex scenes and giggling at it. I just hope he keeps to his words like he said because I'd seriously need him back here.
I didn't do anything significant today. Daneesha is back in my room but she doesn't look like she's in a good mood.
"What's wrong, Daneesha?" I asked when I talked to her about lady night with Lyall and she said nothing.
Sighing, she let the cloth in her hand drop to the floor before turning to me. "The Queen. She met me today."
My heart sank immediately. Fear. Fear was all that filled me. I remembered how she'd brutally pulled at my hair when she warned me to watch my back.
"Why?"
"She was crying," I raised my brows in shock, almost sputtering a laugh. "She said her husband didn't return to bed last night. She didn't see him for the whole of yesterday."
I paused. Did I lose track of time or something? Because I was as sure as hell that none of that happened... Oh, gods.
Lyall had spent the whole day with me and it didn't even feel like it! He'd told me that he had a free day and would love to spend it with me so that was what we did.
We made love several times, kissing and eating amidst it all. Even at a point, we'd moved to the balcony and made love under the sunset. Even the stars. We would sleep, wake up and then make love and it went on and on and on and fucking on.
I didn't feel guilty about it. Just concerned that the Queen had to speak to Daneesha concerning it
"Okay. Uhm, how is that your problem?"
"That's it!" She fell to the bed. "I don't know if she was expecting me to sympathise with her because honestly, I was confused. How do you comfort the Luna Queen who is ruthless and feared by everyone? It's so confusing. Yesterday, at dinner, the King's half-brother, Mason, was with her and I walked into them both talking about you."
"Me?"
He nodded. "And the King also. Mason kept telling her it wasn't worth her tears. That the King doesn't deserve her but she threw a glass cup at him and asked him never to talk about her husband like that. We were all really confused as to what had happened. Prince Mason didn't leave though. All he did was laugh like a fucking maniac. I don't know why he does that."
I leaned back into the bed, sighing and raking my fingers through my hair. "I don't want to be in the middle of this."
"Maybe give the King a little bit of space?"
I whipped my head to look at her with a glare and when I realised that I'd lost my guard, I cleared my throat and sat up. "Like I have control over it? The King always wants me around. I don't know why. It's starting to irk me. Yesterday was fun but I didn't feel it. Everything I am doing is to get this over with. I am honestly tired of having to make myself seen or the sort. He doesn't care about me and that's fine. All he wants is a child but honestly, I want to be free. He says I'd leave as soon as this is over and that's all I am waiting for."
"Are you sure he's going to allow for that to happen?"
I shrugged. "I hope he does. He's starting to act obsessive."
Shaking her head, Daneesha pushes to her feet and grabs the cleaning cloth much to my relief. "Sometimes, people of royalty can be really crazy. How does he even do that to his wife? She's beautiful, isn't she? He should be content with her and only concerned about putting a child in you. I am really sorry you have to go through this, Aria. I don't wish it on anyone, even my enemy."
Smiling, I nod at her. "It's totally fine. I'll live through it. I've gone through worse and yet, I am still alive and healthy."
"Of course, you are. I'll see you around."
As soon as she leaves, I place a hand over my chest in relief, thankful that she didn't catch that slip at all. I fall back in bed, going over what she had told me and if the Queen has an ulterior motive.
I found a book sitting on my bedstand when I finally woke up later in the evening. It's still bright out and Daneesha came in with a tray of my food.
"Thank you."
"The King is back," She takes a seat at the edge of my bed. I raise my brows in concern. "He's having dinner with the Queen and they seem to be on good terms."
My fingers tighten around my fork but I say nothing at all to that. He'd promised to come right here after everything but he had chosen to have dinner with her instead. I am almost on my feet and matching towards the dining when I remember he's probably doing that to make her feel special.
He's going to see me later like he promised. He's going to keep to his words.
He doesn't show up.
