ANNABELLE'S POV
I still remember that day like the back of my hand. I remember waking up to the sound of birds singing and my head pounding like crazy. I slowly opened my eyes and immediately covered them with my hands, protecting them from the light.
I remember hoping that everything was just a dream, but gosh, was I wrong? It all happened. Tears started streaming down my cheek. I'm sure my eyes are red and puffy now. When my eyes finally adjusted to the brightness, that's when I took in my surroundings, the room I'm currently in has baby pink walls, a white vanity desk that has pull out drawers with a glass top, a mirror and a soft pink desk chair with wooden arms that are on my right-hand side just next to the window that is covered with white curtains. In the corner near the vanity desk are some white floating shelves that are currently empty.
The queen-sized bed I'm on has a pink soft blanket, white and pink soft fluffy pillows are all over the place. I let my eyes roam around the room for a while. My staring gets interrupted by a soft knock at the door.
"Come in" I said in a very hoarse voice. And a man who looked like he was in his late forties, with brown eyes and red hair. He is tall, very tall, maybe 6ft, I'm not sure, and well-built.
He looks like a giant. As he walks in, I can feel the power that radiate off him. It makes me a little bit uncomfortable as I don't know what to do. I'm guessing he is the Alpha, my mother's brother, Nicholas.
When he was right in front of me, standing next to the night stand on my left-hand side, that's when I got the courage to look at his face and that's when I saw how much he looked like my mother. They shared the same hair color and eyes. He's staring down at me with a soft smile on his face, but the look he has in his eyes is broken. I smiled back at him. .
"Good morning, you must be Annabelle. I am Alpha Nicholas, your mother's brother. I'm guessing you've already gathered that by now. You can call me Nicholas or uncle Nick, whichever you are comfortable with," he said with a smile.
I don't know what I was expecting from him, but it wasn't that. I appreciate that he was been nice to me.
"Good morning, thank you. Yes, I'm Annabelle, but you can call me Anna. Everyone calls me that." I said to him.
I didn't want to seem disrespectful, so I bowed my head slightly to show him respect. He was an Alpha, and from what I've heard, they don't like being disrespected.
I didn't notice that I was crying until I felt a finger wipe my face. Uncle Nick was now sitting beside me on the bed and I hugged him because I couldn't take it anymore. I'm glad he didn't push me away like I thought he would, he just rubbed my back softly as I wet his shirt with my tears.
"Hey, hey, sweetheart, it's going to be okay. I promise I'll protect you and try to make you happy. You are a very strong girl, I'm so proud of you, Anna," he said, and he just sat there rubbing my back until I had hiccups.
I removed my hands from his neck and sat upright. I felt slightly embarrassed about my breakdown.
"Sorry," I said with flushed cheeks from embarrassment.
"There's nothing to be sorry about, I'm here for you whenever you need to talk. Don't hesitate to come to me. Okay?" he asks, and I nod. He smiled at me, got up from bed and faced me.
"You can take a shower, the bathroom is that door over there" he said, pointing at the door which is at the far end of the room.
"And that's the walk-in closet over there" he pointed at the door which is to my left.
"I sent someone to buy you clothes while you were sleeping. When you are done, come down for breakfast. I'll send someone to show you around and keep ou company while I deal with some work."
He said, and I nodded, he gave me one last smile, then left the room. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. It was drop-dead gorgeous. It had a mirror on the wall near the sink which was in the middle of the counter.
The bathroom is stocked with all kinds of soaps, shower gels, scrubs and other toiletries. Both the shower and the tub looked enticing, but I decided to go with the shower because it would be faster. I picked out a strawberry scented soap and shower gel and a loofah to scrub my body.
After doing my morning routine, I wrapped a towel around my body and went to the walk-in closet and I found a lot of nice clothes. They all looked lovely.
I settled for black sweatpants and a white tank top with a black hoodie, I put on socks on my feet and gray house shoes. It's June, so it's freezing. I went out of the walk-in closet and found a girl my age in my room, and I was kinda freaking out, what is she doing here, what if ....
"You must be Annabelle, I'm Emma" she said with a huge smile, and that just freaked me out more. How does she know my name?!
" Uhm, hi" I said in an unsure voice.
"Alpha Nicholas told me to escort you to the kitchen to get your breakfast". That's when I remember that he said he would send someone to show me the way. And I blushed at my memory equivalent to that of a chicken.
" Thanks, you didn't have to," I told her with a small smile, but in my head I knew she really was an angel for actually even coming, because knowing myself, I would have just stayed in this room while burying myself in my sorrows.
"It's no problem. You are gorgeous," she adds with a smile and my cheeks just flush red. I am not exactly used to compliments. The only people who complimented me were Mom, Dad and Greta, the old lady from next door.
"Thanks, so are you," I told her genuinely. She has light brown hair with some strings which are blond, brown eyes, and a very nice body. She is taller than me, she looks 5 '6, while I am 5' 2, and she has been smiling from the moment we started talking. I wonder how she is managing to do that. On the way to the kitchen, she told me all about the pack while I listened quietly.
I learned from her that this was the Silver Moon pack, and sadly, my uncle's wife, Luna Grace, died. When the pack got attacked by rogues, it was a hard time for uncle Nick, his son and the pack, but I am glad they're okay now. Just the thought of rogues made my blood run cold.
She told me about my cousin Lucas, who isn't around at the moment because he has gone for some Alpha training together with the future Beta and Gamma of the pack.
Most people live in the pack house, while others stay in houses that are scattered around the territory. The Beta, Gamma, and their families also live in the pack house together with most of the pack. Except the higher ranked, wolves have their rooms on the highest floor and no one is allowed to get in without permission. Emma also lives in a pack house with her parents.
I've learned a lot about her. We are the same age, her favorite color is green because she loves nature, she loves going out, parting and traveling. She goes to a certain school that is owned by the pack. Only werewolves are enrolled there.
Am I going there too? Or will I be taken to a human school, or maybe I'll be homeschooled again?
The other amazing thing about this place is that they have acres and acres of land, they are surrounded by nature. It's such a beautiful place, so calm and refreshing.
They have their own shops, school, hospital, a construction company and other things. All the buildings are built by them. Amazing, right?
They even grow their own fruits and vegetables. I've concluded, these people are so amazing.
I am still sitting on a chair in the dining room with a plate of toasted bread, scrambled eggs, and beacon. I told Emma to join me, but she declined, saying she had already eaten from the pack house.
Her telling me about the pack has lightened up my mood and I feel like I'll grow to love this place so much. Uncle Nick is in a meeting. Since Emma has to go to school, she offered to show me around the pack after school tomorrow.
I made a mental note to ask uncle Nick if I could go to school, get a phone and a laptop. I hope he doesn't think I am asking for too much. I remained alone just watching TV.
Later in the day, I heard the front door open and I got a little nervous about asking him about what I wanted.
