Mia POV
It took a considerable amount of time for Atlas to finally give in and get some sleep. I, on the other hand, was no longer tired from the ample rest I had received. However, he had not slept much, if at all, in the past few days and desperately needed it. I sat on the edge of the bed, watching him intently. At first, he appeared peaceful, but as hours passed, restlessness consumed him.
"It's due to what Thora did to him as a child," Inara warned me softly, her voice filled with concern, as Atlas tossed and turned. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as I gently brushed my hand against his cheek. "It's only a dream, Atlas. I'm here with you," I whispered, attempting to calm him. Suddenly, his eyes shot open, but they were vacant, as if he were trapped in some kind of trance.

"You're not leaving me," he growled, his voice filled with desperation, as he pinned me down on the bed, his grip tightening around my wrists. I realized then that he was much stronger than he even realized. "You're hurting me," I cried out, feeling the pain radiating through my body as he held onto me tightly. However, it was evident that he was acting out in his sleep, not fully aware of his actions. He forcefully pressed his lips against mine, his kiss harsh and punishing. I trembled, uncertain of what was happening in his dream, but I knew that this was not Atlas. He was being manipulated, controlled like a puppet, in an attempt to break me.
"Snap out of it," I growled, as he released one of his hands but kept the other firmly holding me down. He pushed up my shirt, exposing my chest, and leaned down, his breath hot against my skin. "I still smell him on you," he growled, before biting down forcefully on my chest, causing my body to jolt in pain.
Luckily, my swift movement jolted him awake. As soon as his bleary eyes locked with mine, he released me and hastily pushed himself away, his face contorted in horror. I could hear the sharp inhale of his breath as he muttered, "What have I done?"
I began to rise, but he urgently commanded, "Don't." I paused, frozen in place. "I hurt you, Mia," he admitted, his voice laced with guilt. "I know exactly what I did, and the worst part is that while I did it, I wanted to cause you pain. It was as if a twisted version of myself was punishing you for allowing Leo to touch you, even though I know you had no control. I'm changing, Mia. This madness, it's getting worse. The potion... It's not working. I thought I had control, but I almost took you forcefully."
He abruptly rushed to the bathroom, the sound of retching filling the air. All I wanted was to be by his side. I opened the door and grabbed a water bottle, offering it to him. "You should not be helping me right now," he growled, his voice strained.
"Yes, I should," I countered firmly. "What you just did was because of Thora. You throwing up afterwards is proof of it. We have to fight through this and remember how much we love each other. I know it won't be easy, and I'm sure when we confront her, she will unleash all her tricks."

He took a sip of water, and I could hear the faint sound of his swallowing. "Can I see?" he whispered, his voice trembling. "I need to know how badly I hurt you." I nodded, lifting my shirt. Thankfully, Inara had been healing me fast, leaving only a few faint red marks. He hesitated, his hand hovering in the air. I reached out and gently guided his hand to my chest, allowing him to feel the remnants of his actions. "I'm okay, Atlas," I reassured him, my voice barely above a whisper. "And we are going to be okay.”
Atlas pulled me against him, his strong arms enveloping me in a tight embrace. I could feel the warmth of his body and hear the steady beating of his heart. "I hate this," he confessed, his voice filled with frustration. "I hate not having full control and hurting you. This is not who I am."
"I know, Atlas," I reassured him. "We are going to destroy the true one behind all of this and free ourselves from her grasp. You and I, we are unstoppable as long as we stick together."
As I spoke, the burner phone rang, breaking the momentary peace. "I have to get that," I whispered, and Atlas released his hold on me. He got up and followed closely behind as I hurriedly grabbed the phone and answered it.

Bryn's voice came through the other end, filled with relief upon hearing my voice. She admitted that she knew our location because of the tracking mark on me. "Leo helped me cast a tracking spell on Thora," she explained. "We can confirm she is bouncing all over the human realm, so it is assumed she is looking for you. But she is getting closer. Her army is starting to gather outside the lycan kingdom barrier. Although they can't break it, they have been surrounding innocent packs, clearly to draw us out. Some warriors have already left the barrier to help protect those packs, but we have maybe a day before we must enter battle."
I took a deep breath, feeling my strength return. "I am well aware," I said firmly. "I plan on going to a more secluded area to avoid involving humans. Thora will try to mess with us, but we will be prepared. The madness is starting to affect Atlas again, so we need to act as fast as possible to prevent it from hindering his ability to fight."
Bryn paused for a moment before continuing. "I know where you should go, Mia," she said, her voice filled with conviction. "After discussing with Leo, we've discovered that the majority of the power Thora uses is dark magic. And that can only be used by someone who has made a pact with demons. Since that power is dark, it has a weakness, and that weakness is iron. I found an area near you that has high amounts of iron. We may not be with you to trap her in a barrier, but the iron should help stop her ability to teleport. Leo also claims it will weaken her spells."
Bryn's explanation filled my mind with hope. We finally had a plan, a way to fight back against Thora. With Atlas by my side and the knowledge of Thora's weakness, we stood a chance. It was time to gather our strength and face the impending battle head-on.
"Perfect," I said with a hint of relief as she provided me with the address. The sound of Leo's voice came through the phone, distant yet urgent. "Mia, my mother simply needs you to break to get your power. You can't give it to her, no matter what she does, don't ever accept. She will try to trick you into handing it over. Even if your mate is hurt, do not do it," he warned me.
"I understand. I won't," I responded, my voice determined. The phone was then passed again. "You two survive, do you understand? That's an order from your stand-in big brother. You are to survive," Flint demanded, his words carrying a weight of responsibility.
"You too, Flint. All of you, we all will survive," I replied, my voice filled with resolve. "Atlas and I will be leaving soon to lure Thora out, and when we're done, we will return and help in your battle," I said, the plan forming in my mind. As we exchanged one last goodbye, the anticipation and determination hung in the air.
As I carefully placed the phone on the table, I glanced at Atlas once more. The events that unfolded while he slept had only strengthened my resolve to send this witch to a place far worse than hell. She had tampered with my mate, and she would pay the price.
"Your eyes look terrifying," Atlas observed, his voice filled with a mix of fear and admiration. "I'm glad I'm on your side."
"We'll be leaving on foot in a few minutes," I replied, pointing to a map hanging on the wall. "This is the location Bryn provided us. It's about a 4-mile walk."
"That's where we'll confront Thora," l continued. "We'll go there and wait. We're prepared."
I leaned into him, seeking comfort in his embrace. We both needed a few moments.
"I know that defeating Thora is just the first step," I confessed. "After that, we'll have to work towards making our realm safe for everyone. When I first met you, I wasn't sure about my future. But now, I want to stand for unity, for a realm where those who are different are no longer feared. A realm that accepts hybrids and allows us to be with our fated, regardless of their species."
"We will, Mia," Atlas assured me. "And I have no doubt that you'll be a great ruler."
"Yes, we will," I agreed. "With the support of Bryn and Flint, we have a strong team that will ensure our success.”
"That they are," he said with a smile as I took his hand. "Our future awaits, now let's go slaughter this witch," I said, giving him an even bigger smile. I refuse to enter a battle afraid I will never turn away from a fight, for that is how I was raised and that is who I am. I am The Royal White Wolf, gifted with powers and the title to protect my kind and others. The moon Goddess has blessed me, and she counts on me. I will not let her down, nor will Atlas. We are her loyal children and protectors.
I closed my eyes for a moment, seeking guidance. "Please lend us strength today and watch over us as we eradicate the evil threatening all. And please keep my mate, my forever, safe," I prayed to the Goddess as we walked out onto the streets. The air was fresh, filled with anticipation. I could already smell the faint hint of our victory in the air, guiding us towards our battle.
"Let's call her," I said, looking at Atlas. He gave me a confused look at first, but then I looked up at the sky and clapped my hands together. As if on cue, darkness fell upon us, and the atmosphere grew charged with my electric energy. The humans on the streets sensed the impending storm and hurried inside.
"Let's make this a storm to remember," I exclaimed to him, my voice barely audible over the booming thunder. As he tightly gripped my hand and we ran towards are destination. The sky was momentarily illuminated by dazzling bolts of lightning. With each step, the ground trembled beneath our feet, fueling our adrenaline. I knew deep down that she would sense this tempest, its raw power guiding her towards me. If she desired to confront me, it would be on my terms, within the very heart of this raging battleground.
I raised my gaze to the heavens, feeling the electric energy surge through my fingertips. The storm responded in kind, intensifying its wrath, as if lending me its power. I was the conductor, orchestrating the symphony of chaos that would ultimately bring about her downfall.
In this storm to remember, I would unleash the full extent of my raging power upon her, leaving no doubt that I was not a puppet to be controlled. The conductor had arrived, and the deadly symphony was about to begin.
