Atlas POV
My life was far from perfect in many ways. I often found myself envying those who had it easy. However, today, my perspective shifted as I learned more about Mia's struggles. Not only had she lost her family and friends, but she also had to face multiple individuals who sought to use her or even end her life. Yet, despite all of this, she wore a smile on her face as we wrapped up our conversation.
Bryn, observing our interaction, turned her gaze towards Mia. "I understand that your wolf needs to be set free, Mia. I have a powerful barrier surrounding my property, so why don't you go for a run? As for you, Atlas, may I have your permission to sit with you for a moment? It's evident that when Mia marked you, something within you awakened or perhaps her power was transferred to you. As a witch, I can sense the supernatural, and you no longer bear the signature of a mere human."

"It has always been my coven's duty to protect all creatures that roam this world and guard their secrets. For some time now, it has been prophesied that a battle would arise, one that could reshape the world for better or worse. The white wolf, Mia, is believed to be the key to this change. That means both of you have an incredibly important destiny, and I have been chosen as a guardian to help protect you both." she continued.
Mia glanced at me, her eyes searching for understanding. "If you're comfortable with it, it would be good for me to go for a run," she said softly, leaving the decision in my hands.
"I'm fine as long as it is safe for you," I responded. She nodded her head and got up, her footsteps echoing softly on the wooden floor. "Then I will go," she said with a soft smile. I stood up, but she insisted on going alone.
Once Mia stepped outside, Bryn turned to me, her eyes filled with concern. "I may have not met Mia personally before this, but I know a decent amount about her wolf since our coven is tasked with protecting her," she began. "Has she told you about how it actually harms her not to shift? Her wolf needs to run. I only ask because as her mate, you are also tasked with helping her. Her wolf, as well as Mia, possesses a great amount of power. And not just that, when others of her kind pass away, their powers get transferred to the loving white wolf. Now that Mia is the last of her kind, she is gifted with all the power. Some may say that is a gift, but it's also overwhelming."
Bryn paused, her voice filled with a mix of sadness and urgency. "Her mother feared the power they were gifted, and Mia was raised to also fear using it. But the result of her mother never using it was her illness. If they don't get control of it, it eats away at them. As her mate, the best thing you can do is to help her truly accept who she is and not to hold back what she is out of fear, especially if you want her to remain by your side."
"I understand. I accept her, all of her, and will do what I can to help her," I responded, my voice determined. As I looked out of the window, a sudden flash of lightning illuminated the now dark sky. Within seconds, a storm engulfed the surroundings, thunder shaking the very foundation of the house. The sound was deafening, echoing through the air.

"It's not safe outside right now," I said, my voice barely audible over the storm's fury.
"It's safe for Mia," Bryn said firmly. "Atlas, I want you to close your eyes now that you are connected to her and focus on her for a moment. Tell me what you feel."
I did as she instructed, closing my eyes and directing my thoughts solely towards Mia. A surge of sharp pain coursed through my body, but then it gradually subsided, leaving a sense of calmness in its wake. "The storm, it's Mia," I said, surprise evident in my voice.
"Yes, she is releasing her power. It constantly overwhelms her, and when her emotions are going wild, it is worse. If she does not release it, she could destroy herself. This storm is a product of her fear and anger for what is going on. She may not voice it, but her power shows it," Bryn explained, her words blending with the sound of the raging storm outside.

I felt a strong pang in my chest as I looked out of the rain-streaked window again. The sound of thunder echoed through the room, adding to the unease that filled the air. "If she is in that much pain, she should not be alone right now," I said, rising from my seat once more.
Bryn, understanding the situation, got up too, her footsteps creating a soft patter against the wooden floor. She walked over to a nearby table and picked up a bowl and a small knife. "She needs to release some of her power, Atlas. And for now, I doubt she will do so with you outside. She worries too much about your safety," Bryn explained, her voice filled with understanding.
With a gentle touch, she took my hand, her palm warm against mine. "I have a simple spell. It will take a day to complete, but with some of your blood, I may be able to trace the truth about you, Atlas," Bryn continued. She carefully made a small cut on my hand, and I watched as my blood dripped into the bowl she held.
Once she was done, she handed me a small towel, and I wiped away the excess blood. Another crash of thunder reverberated through the house, causing me to glance nervously towards the door. "What helps Mia calm? Since you know more about her kind than I do, what can I do to help her?" I asked Bryn.
Bryn paused for a moment, her eyes searching for the right words. "Since you are her mate, any sort of intimate connection will help calm her. For her kind, they heal faster and find peace when they are close with their mates," she explained. "Have you noticed that when you touch Mia, you feel a tingling or pleasurable sensation more than you have with anyone else?"
"Yes," I admitted, recalling the electrifying feeling that coursed through me whenever I held Mia's hand. "I almost feel empty when I'm not simply holding her hand now."
Bryn smiled. "It's because now that the two of you are connected, your bodies feed off each other. You will only ever feel complete when connected, and intimate acts such as skin-on-skin contact, kissing, or, of course, sex, will help calm Mia when she's upset. It will also aid in her healing if she's sick or injured."
As I thought back to the train ride when I held her against me all night, I realized that it must have helped her heal. The knowledge brought a sense of happiness, knowing that I was able to provide comfort and aid. "Since Mia just marked you, Atlas, both of you will crave a more physical connection for some time. Without it, you two may even feel depressed," Bryn explained, her words resonating with both caution and understanding.
Even though you clearly helped her through her heat, with a fresh mark on you the desire to be together intimately is strong, making it almost unbearable for some to resist that connection. Word to the wise, follow your instincts with Mia, for she is holding herself back with you, Atlas. I see it in her hesitant eyes, her concern about overwhelming you. My property is secure for now, so take this time to get comfortable with Mia, and vice versa. The two of you must work as a team if she wants to survive," Bryn explained, and I nodded in understanding. "Now, I must work on the spell. Feel free to make yourself at home here, take what you need," Bryn offered, the sound of her voice soothing.
"Thank you, and please let me know how I can help repay your hospitality," I responded as she left the room.
As the storm raged on, I watched in awe as lightning tore through the darkened sky, illuminating the surroundings. The deafening crash of thunder echoed through the air, intensifying the chaos. Determined not to let Mia suffer alone, I disregarded Bryn's warning and ventured out into the pouring rain, searching for her on the vast expanse of Bryn's property.
The rain pounded relentlessly against my skin, drenching me to the bone as I scoured the area for any sign of Mia. And then, amidst the downpour, I finally spotted her - transformed into her majestic wolf form. "Inara!" I called out desperately, hoping to capture her attention. Her head snapped towards me, and in a blink of an eye, she shifted back into her human form. Her mesmerizing purple eyes met mine before she dropped to her knees, weakened.
My heart raced with worry as I rushed to her side, the anxiety pulsating within me. "Stop," she exclaimed, cautioning me from getting too close. "I'm not safe right now, Atlas. I can hurt you." I observed the electric currents flickering around her fingers, causing her pain. It was evident that her turmoil disrupted her control over the power she possessed.
"You won't hurt me." I reassured her. Closing the distance between us, I knelt down beside her and embraced her in my arms. My heartache for her was palpable. "From now on, Mia, you have me. I'll stand by you whenever you need support. Let me be the one to calm you, to show you that I am strong enough to stand beside you." My whispered words mingled with the resounding thunder
"Let's get you inside and dried off," I said to her, the rain pelting down on us. "I can't until this storm ends, it will follow me inside," Mia responded, her voice barely audible above the thunderous roar. "You can, Atlas, let me calm first."
"I'll stay with you then," I responded, the smell of wet earth filling the air. "Use me to calm, Mia." I pulled off my damp shirt, feeling the cool droplets on my skin, and pulled her tighter against me. As I pressed my lips against hers, the storm raged on above us, lightning illuminating the dark sky.
Mia kissed me back, her lips moving against mine, the taste of rain mingling with her sweet breath. I explored her mouth, the warmth of her tongue against mine. My hands, guided by an invisible force, moved slowly against her curves, eliciting a small groan from deep within me.
"Atlas, I don't want to hurt you," she breathed out, her eyes glowing with a mysterious purple hue. "You won't, Mia. I'm stronger than I look," I reassured her, the thunderclap echoing in the distance. Her hands trailed against my upper body, their touch electrifying.
"You crave and want this connection just as badly as I do, don't you? I thought I was crazy even with you explaining how we feel after you marked me," I admitted, the sound of raindrops hitting the ground becoming a symphony around us. "I thought I was going to chase you away by the way you turn me on like I'm some hormonal teenager."
She grabbed my hand, guiding it down her body, the sensation of her smooth skin against my fingertips sending a jolt of desire through me. "I won't hide how much I want you, all of you, Mia," I promised, the air thick with anticipation. "As long as you do the same for me and stop holding yourself back out of fear of hurting me."
Our hearts beat in sync, the rhythm matching the storm brewing above us. Mia's moans grew louder, harmonizing with the crashing thunder, as my fingers teased her sensitive area while kissing her again.
The sky gradually cleared its turbulent clouds as I continued to kiss Mia, the soft breeze caressing our bodies.
"Take me inside," Mia whispered against me. I swiftly picked her up, shielding her body against mine, and carried her back to the house. As we stepped inside, the air grew still, amplifying the intensity of the moment. Climbing the stairs, each step creaking under our weight, I felt a surge of anticipation. Closing the door behind us, I gently placed her on the bed, our gazes locked in a mesmerizing connection.
The urge to possess her, to claim her, battled fiercely within me, despite having already tasted her pleasure before. My hands explored every inch of her body, igniting a wildfire of desire. Mia, her purple eyes blazing, sat up and pushed against the fabric of my pants. "I want you just as badly, Atlas," she whispered, her words were the final catalyst, unleashing my primal instincts. In that moment, control slipped away, and I surrendered completely to the overwhelming passion.
