Xavier shielded me, providing an opportunity for me to unleash a powerful growl that sent them flying miles away. In the midst of the chaos, I witnessed the female warrior impale herself on a tree branch, her heart pierced.
It was a sight that should have evoked horror and sadness, but I found myself strangely detached, perhaps too exhausted to care. She was consumed by rage and blinded by her own fury.
"Damn you!" were her final words before she succumbed to her wounds.
The fight was far from over, as I now faced the main threat. The woman called him Tristant and I could tell he was an elite warrior. Realizing the urgency, we had to escape and run as fast as we could.
Shifting into our wolf forms, Xavier and I sprinted with all our might. We were relentlessly pursued and attacked, but luck seemed to be on our side when we reached a beautiful lake nearby.
Transforming back into my human form, I approached the water. They attempted to corner me near the water's edge, but I discovered a newfound ability to control the water, as if I were one with it.
The battle felt never-ending, with countless bodies lying on the ground, soaked in their own blood. My old self would have been horrified and frightened by such a scene, but I had grown stronger. I realized that this was a survival of the fittest. Those who couldn't endure it weren't meant for it.
"Surrender, or this fight will bring you irreversible losses. Put your pride aside and think like a leader who prioritizes the safety of his people!" I shouted, hoping to reason with him.
He looked infuriated. "You bitch! I'll fucking kill you!"
He continued to attack, with Xavier defending me for the time being. I had no choice but to fight back. Fortunately for me, I was a formidable opponent for Tristan.
He was powerful and I could tell that such power was bestowed upon him by Magnus, and his strength and speed attack was enhanced. To counter his attacks, I needed to create distance and strike him from afar, like a skilled marksman. Thankfully, I possessed a skill that could reach him from a distance.
As Tristan relentlessly punched the ground and launched his assaults, the battle raged on. Even if I were the old Isabella, I wouldn't tremble in fear now.
Tristan's strength was undeniable and should not be underestimated. Facing him in this intense situation was something I had never imagined.
We fought as if we were almost evenly matched in power. However, I was no longer the weak Isabella. I could fight back, and not just that—I could defeat them now.
"You little shit! Do you think you can defeat me now? You are pathetic," he taunted, attempting to provoke me. But I wouldn't take the bait.
"If anyone is pathetic here, it's you, not me. Remember, I'm not the one hiding behind my beloved pack warriors. Do you truly believe you're stronger than me now? You may think highly of yourself, but the fact remains that you're nothing more than a pathetic dog of a god named Magnus. Pathetic," I retorted, refusing to let his words affect me.
He growled, and I growled in response. As he charged for an attack, I prepared myself to defend against it first. Tristan landed a powerful punch on my arms, causing significant damage.
It felt as if a bone had broken upon impact. However, thanks to my healing power and accelerated regeneration, I could withstand his continued assault.
"You're a bit tougher now, huh?" he taunted, attempting to provoke me further.
"You punch like your Grandma!" I taunted him, and successfully got under his skin.
Enraged, Tristan launched into a full-on attack, his mind clouded by anger. In his blind rage, he became more vulnerable, leaving openings for me to strike.
Taking a few steps backward, I shifted from defense to offense, while Tristan found himself on the defensive. Utilizing my power, I emitted an aura that momentarily stunned him, allowing me to target his vital points with precision.
Both of us were exhausted, but this battle was one-sided. Tristan could rest and rely on his elite warriors for support, returning to fight me once he had recovered.
Reluctantly, I realized that I had to eliminate my enemies drastically to avoid losing this battle. With my ability to control water, I manipulated it to move faster, making it sharper. Now, I could cut their hands and feet, inflicting significant damage.
I understood that this was a brutal and bloody approach, but it was the nature of this fight. The stronger prevailed over the weaker. In this case, I was the predator, and they were my prey. When Xavier tried to intervene, I signaled him to focus on his other opponents.
"This is my battle. Do not interfere, Xavier.”
Tristan gasped for breath, his energy depleted. He was defenseless, making him an easy target for me. I let my claws show and choked him.
“Why are you so strong?” Tristan asked in disbelief, but I had no time to respond.
I fought with all of my strength until I defeated him. Panting for breath, I tried to revitalize my energy, and I should be grateful to the Moon Goddess.
“Finally, it’s over,” I mumbled under my breath.
"Yes, we have to go. We still need to retrieve the power of the pillar," Xavier reminded me of our objective.
"Let's go!”
We walked through the soil, now almost turned to mud from being soaked in blood. The metallic scent of the red liquid filled the air. It was a massacre, a battle that determined their fate.
After a short while, we arrived at a sinkhole that had appeared in the mountains. Without hesitation, I jumped into it, greeted by a maze. Then, I was surprised to see a beautiful woman there. She possessed tan skin, green eyes, and raven-black hair, radiating beauty that made me feel self-conscious about my own appearance.
"I sensed your arrival, my dear," she greeted me, enveloping me in a tight hug.
“W-who are you?” I asked.
“Don’t you recognize me, my dear sister?”
I furrowed my brows when she referred to me as his sister because I was an only child. Then, suddenly I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror, and my eyes widened when I didn’t recognize the face of the woman staring back at me.
“Why, Dianna? Don’t you recognize your own sibling now?”
“Dianna?” I responded with a question. “Who are you?” I asked again, but then, my eyes saw someone familiar. Was it Vanessa? Then, when I glanced again at the beautiful woman, she was no longer a woman but a man! “Magnus?”
