Blushing in the moonlight, I turned to face Luke. But instead of taking me seriously, he just laughed, which irritated me. If only he hadn't caused a scene earlier, I wouldn't have ended up here with him.
"I don't understand why you keep doing this, Luke. Please stop," I pleaded with him.
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"Yes, I'm sure. Just focus on your future wife," I told him, and he clenched his jaw while looking at me. He fell silent for a moment, but I patiently waited for him to speak. Suddenly, he pulled me towards him.
"Didn’t you miss this, Isabella?" he asked, kissing me passionately and asking if I wanted to go out with him.
As his tongue touched my lips, I let out a low moan and leaned into him. The fact that we were in public heightened our desire for each other. Luke nodded, seemingly dazed, when I suggested we go swimming after he let me go.
Later, as we made our way to the water, we both undressed. The contrast between our heated bodies and the cold water made us wild with desire. It was awkward when he tried to penetrate me in an uncomfortable position.
"I've never done this before."
"Me neither," he replied.
Our moans and sighs were drowned out by the crashing waves. It didn't take long for our desires to take over. His thrusts were powerful, and I lost track of everything else. I called out his name as he penetrated me deeply. The more he moved, the more pleasure we both experienced. We held our breath, waiting for the sensation to subside.
"How will I survive without you?" His tone changed, and he fixed his gaze on mine. "I promised I wouldn't abandon you, Isabella."
It broke my heart to lie, but it was the only thing I could think of at the time. Resting my chin on his shoulder, I said, "They'll be surprised to see us together," thinking about how his family might react.
"Yes, but they'll get over it," he replied.
Sighing heavily, I admitted, "I'm a little nervous."
"Isabella, just relax," he said soothingly.
"I'm trying," I replied, and he nodded in agreement. "I have an idea.”
"What do you have in mind?"
"Something like this," I said, putting my hand in his shirt pocket and tracing his nipples with my fingers. I continued to tease him until he winced in pain. The more I teased, the more aroused he became. He tried to stop me, but I didn't listen.
"Please stop this now!" he pleaded.
When I continued to draw circles on his belly button, he grabbed my hand. "I'd like to stop, but I can't." Then, I asked him, "Do you really love me?"
"Yes," he quickly replied, and I was grateful for his honesty.
His immediate response gave me confidence that he was telling the truth. But it was tragic. Even though I loved him, I couldn't be with him because he was a red flag.
"I don't understand how you can be so kind and understanding towards me. Luke, I am not the woman you should marry. Well, I mean, we're not meant to be together, and you know that," I told him honestly.
"You're overthinking it. As an Alpha, I can protect you," he explained. "Why don't you take a chance on me? I promise to love you until the day I die."
"The offer is tempting, but I am still engaged with someone else," I reminded him. "You know that choosing me would put me in danger, right?" I asked.
“I will always protect you, Isabella. You will always be safe with me.”
“What if you are the one who wants to kill me? What if, in the future, you will fall in love with someone else, and she is also your mate? Will you kill me?”
“Isabella, what are you talking about? You know I won’t be able to hurt you!”
Hearing that, I closed my eyes, torn between believing him and running back to my room. I felt sorry for Luke, but I also felt sorry for myself. "Are you ready for the consequences, Luke?" I asked him.
Luke said yes, with a genuine expression of concern. "I'll be fine as long as you're by my side, sweetheart." However, he seemed to realize that his Luna wouldn't be lenient with me.
"I'm sorry, but I don't think I can do that. I don't want to complicate things further," I told him.
"I understand, Isabella, but I promise to take care of you. I will always protect you," he assured me.
Luke tried his best to win my heart again, but I couldn't fully accept him. I was scared about what the future held, and that fear kept me from fully embracing his love.
Each time Luke approached me with love and sincerity, I felt torn. I could see the love in his eyes, and I knew he had changed. But deep down, I was scared. Scared of getting hurt again, scared of the uncertainty that lay ahead, and scared of repeating past mistakes.
Every time I rejected his advances, I could see the disappointment in his eyes. It hurt me to hurt him, but I couldn't ignore my own fears and doubts. Luke pleaded with me, pouring his heart out and promising to make me happy. But my fear held me back, preventing me from fully accepting his love.
“Why are you being mean to me, Isabella? I only ask you to let me love you again,” he said.
I explained my fears to Luke, telling him that I was scared of the future, scared of making the wrong decision. I didn't want to go through heartbreak again, and I didn't want to hurt him either.
Luke listened patiently, and he assured me that he would do everything he could to prove his love and commitment. But even with his reassurances, I couldn't shake the fear that lingered within me.
I questioned myself constantly, wondering if I was making the right decision. Was I letting fear control my life? Was I missing out on happiness because of my insecurities? It was a constant battle within myself.
