Because of what happened, Luke had to take me home earlier than planned. He let me rest in my room, and he didn’t bother me anymore. Although I was glad he took the initiative to take me back home, I couldn’t stop myself from overthinking. So, as a result, I didn’t have enough sleep and woke up tired in the morning.
“Isabella? Is that you?” Luke asked upon seeing me descending the grand staircase.
I frowned and responded with a question, “Why? What’s wrong? Why are you staring at me like that?”
“Perhaps, are you wearing contact lenses? What about your hair? Did you dye it last night?”
“What are you talking about?” I asked in confusion because he fired several questions and each of them was weird.
“What the hell did you do to your hair, Isabella? And your eyes, too!”
When I saw it earlier, I thought I was just imagining things but it seemed that what I saw at the mirror was right. Luke noticed it too. How could I explain it? That it happened miraculously? Like magic? That I woke up like this?
“Yes, I dyed my hair last night since I couldn’t sleep,” I lied.
“It’s not good for your wolf, Isabella, and you know that. What were you thinking when you dyed your hair?” he asked while crossing his arms on his chest.
As if it wasn’t enough to seduce me, he suddenly ruffled his hair and caressed each strand with his long fingers. Then, I quickly averted my gaze because he was too hot to handle.
“But then, you look good in your new hair color. Still, it’s not good for your wolf,” he repeated, and I couldn’t explain why my heartbeat went mad when he said those words.
“What time should I go to the courtyard today?”
“We have to skip training for a while, Isabella. You don’t feel well, in fact, you collapsed last night at the park.”
“Very well, then I might as well go shopping for new clothes!”
“No. We can just ask someone to do the shopping for you, but do you really want to go to the city?”
“Not really, but I am just bored,” I admitted the truth.
“How about working for me for a few months?” he suggested.
“Work for you? Are you nuts? I am your employer if you have forgotten, Luke, so how could you ask me to work for you?”
“It’s a win-win situation. By working with me, you can leave this house and be in the city every day.”
For a moment, the offer was tempting, but then, I recalled that I had a more important mission in this lifetime. I had to find the witch you used Vanessa, or the one who was working with her.
“What kind of work, Luke? You are aware that I live like a princess here, so my knowledge about work is limited. You have to be specific.”
“I need an assistant. I am a busy man, you know.”
“Then, why the hell did you work for Dad if you are busy? You are a confusing individual, Luke.”
“It’s because I want to keep you safe,” he replied.
“Why? My Dad’s men can look out for me.”
“Because I like you.”
“Gosh, Luke. Will you please stop being so cheesy at this hour? You are ruining my appetite,” I told him, then I walked pass him to proceed to the breakfast room.
There, I saw Dad and Mom happily eating their breakfast. As I watched them smiling at each other while enjoying a meal, I suddenly became emotional. When Luke said that I could stay in the city every day just by being his assistant, the offer was tempting, but then, how could I live with my parents now?
The second chance that the Moon Goddess had given me shouldn’t be wasted. I should stay away from them because sooner or later, I would be left alone, with no one beside me.
“Isabella, why are you just standing there? Come and join us,” Mom called me, and I nodded my head while trying to keep my cool.
But in reality, I was on the verge of breaking down. I wished Mom wouldn’t die soon because Dad would be surely devastated. “Mom, can we go to the city today?” I asked her.
“What for, darling?”
“Shopping?”
“Mmm, why not? Shall we go to the city, sweetheart?” he asked Dad later.
“If you want to, sweetheart.”
“Not today, of course. How about three days from now, Isabella? I’m sorry dear but I have a prior engagement today,” she informed me and I agreed. “Thanks for understanding. Are you still going to train today?”
“No, Mom. Luke said I had to rest, but really, I am just fine!”
“Just listen to him, sweetheart. By the way, will you be okay if we don’t be home tonight? I don’t think we will be able to come back home because our appointments will end at ten, so your Dad and I planned to stay outside the pack tonight.”
“Go ahead, Mom. With Luke here, you have nothing to worry about,” I told her, and she smiled.
After breakfast, Dad and Mom were busy because they would be leaving, and since there would be no training, I believed I would be bored, so I decided to do some cleaning in the house even if we had several servants at home.
But then, I thought I would have of mind while my parents were out to work for the benefit of the pack, however, it wasn’t the case when I saw Vanessa. She was smiling as she approached me, and without saying anything, she helped me with the cleaning.
Since I didn’t want to talk to her, I went to the sound system and played some music. It was too loud, and I knew that my parents would hear how I went wild with the background music.
While dusting the furniture inside the living room, I saw Vanessa taking out the garbage from last night. As I observed her while working diligently for the family, I still couldn’t fathom how in hell she got the courage to go against me.
Was there something I didn’t know about her?
Since she took the garbage from the kitchen, I decided to retrieve the trash from my room as well, but before that, I went to Luke’s room to check his trash bin as well. I had to do it fast while he wasn’t around, and I should be careful.
Then, I saw a used condom in the trash bin! My heart sank when I accidentally sniffed the scent coming from it as my nose suddenly became too sensitive. I wanted to cry while overthinking that Luke brought another woman to his room last night, while I just sleeping in the next room.
How could he? Was she an omega who was willing to do anything to become better than the others? Last night, he said I would be the reason for his untimely death, but given the situation, I believed it was the opposite.
Luke would be the cause of my death and not Aric Stormheart!
“Did you cry?” Vanessa asked when I returned downstairs. She probably noticed the puffiness in my eyes, as well as the redness even if I had washed my face several times.
“I’m just no feeling well, Vanessa. I’m tired now, can you just ask some of the servants to help you here?”
“Sure, Isabella. Go ahead and take a rest. Should I wake you up around lunch?”
“No, never mind. I would eat whenever I go hungry,” I told her.
But I lied about eating lunch. Later in the afternoon, I visited my favorite coffee shop, but unfortunately, I saw Jimuel having some coffee, too. Actually, I wasn’t sure how he recognized me in a crowded place, considering all the changes that I had gone through.
“Jimuel! I didn’t expect to see you again!” I exclaimed as he dragged me toward a vacant table.
“Me too, Isabella. Perhaps, we are fated to see each other again today,” he mumbled, but I could still hear him.
