Brynn's POV
After Eli broke the news about his brother's new mate, the three of us looked at each other, afraid to speak. I was the first to find my voice. "How are they taking this news?"
"Miranda is in shock. But Emmett...he's absolutely furious! He's taken off, and I don't know where he is!"

"Arlen, what are we going to do?!"
"Eli, it isn't what Emmett thinks it is. Miranda told us when she first arrived here that she had to do something to keep Luca from killing her, and she's had nightmares ever since. I didn't know what she meant then and didn't think to ask at the time."
"I guessed it, but Miranda never actually confirmed it." I told Eli.
"He's not mad about that. Miranda told us both Luca made her exchange s*x to stay alive when he tried to force her to join his war on the Faes a few months ago. Emmett is p****d about the baby being Luca's! He knows how evil and demented Luca Lombardo is and understandably doesn't want Luca's seed around him. Emmett wants Miranda to give the child up when it's born, but Miranda told him not to tell her what to do, it was her decision and hers alone!!" Eli clarified.
That wasn't surprising. Even though my time with Miranda has been limited, anyone can tell she's strong-willed and won't let anyone push her around.
"I understand where Emmett's coming from. I just hope we can salvage their mate bond. Emmett cannot mentally handle losing a second mate." Arlen explained to us.

"Eli, my cousin and her mate were in a similar situation. Maybe we can get them here to talk to Emmett?" I suggested. Arlen's eyes lit up.
"Of course! Brynn, this is why you are my Queen." Arlen kissed my cheek and took his cell phone out.
"Queen Brynn, my brother has been through more than enough in this life. If this falls apart...." Eli's voice cracked.
"We'll try to figure this out. I promise you." I assured Eli. Never in a million years did I think a mate bond would be so complicated.

"OK, Ryan has to stay behind and protect his pack. One of Ezra's Gypsy friends just arrived at Midnight Moon. Once he gets them squared away, he and Jade will Skype us. In the meantime, I need to talk to my Queen privately. Can you please excuse us?" Eli left, and Arlen immediately took me in his arms and inhaled my scent.
"Brynn, remember what Gaia said? I want to know what happened when I was under that b***h Sophia's spell!"
"You talked down to me and minimized or dismissed anything I suggested, Arlen. It was so soon after we learned the truth about Lorenzo, I figured you were just upset. But then today, I came to find you in my office and heard you on the phone to Amos!" I began to cry as Arlen held me tighter.
"Brynn, I don't remember talking to Amos at all! What was the conversation about!?"
"Me. You called me a stone on your back, called me pathetic and weak. And you were mad because I am scared to have children, but you told him I don't WANT children!" I sobbed.
"Brynn, I'm so sorry! I swear on my parents, I think of you as anything but pathetic! You are so strong, you are such a good person and meant to be my Queen!! Never ever think differently!" Arlen touched his forehead to mine, tears running down his cheeks.
"I know that. Arlen, please don't think that I hate children and don't want them! But you know how my grandmothers were and all that trauma they carried. I am terrified it's genetic, and I could pass it on to my child! Lorenzo told me a little about his parents when I worked at the delivery service, and said they raised him well and loved him very much. They surely raised Sheri the same as they raised him! When they tried to protect her and protect another Fae's mate bond, she killed them!!"
"I understand. It's safe to say that with your Aunt Mindi, it was from Eva's trauma she projected onto them. You are young enough, and we have plenty of time for children, Brynn. Before we start trying, I think we should delve into Sheri's family tree and see if any other rotten apples fall out."
"And if they do?" I whispered.
"Then we will adopt a child or get a surrogate. But I really don't think it was anything but a fluke with Sheri Hunter. That woman spent over fifty years living lie after lie. Whether that was what made her a narcissistic control freak, we'll probably never know. But look how much Stefanie has flourished since she got away from her." Arlen made a good point.
"I like your idea of making sure Sheri's psychosis isn't genetic. After we are certain it's not and all this is settled with the Lombardo's and Marshall, I'm willing to start trying." I smiled at Arlen as he picked me up and spun me around.
"You have made me the happiest man, my love!" He kissed me passionately. We began to fool around but stopped when there was a knock at the door.
"Jason, what are you doing back here?!" Jason wasn't supposed to be back until next week from getting Emma settled in the Caribbean.
"King Arlen, is Anthony Starr here!?"
"He's not far away, I can command him to come back."
"You better." Jason stepped aside and revealed a striking blonde woman holding two babies in her arms. They couldn't have been more than a year old. I noticed right away the little boy had one blue eye and one green eye. He cooed happily as his sister clung to her mother.
The blonde leveled her blue eyes at Arlen. "I know Anthony is going to be absolutely livid with me, but he needs us here!" She urged him.
"Tessa Starr, he's also going to pound that man behind you into oblivion. Jason, you better hide!"
A good thing that Jason has the ability to control emotions. I thought to myself.
Tessa turned her blue eyes towards me and bowed her head. "It's nice to finally meet you. I'm Tessa."
"I'm Brynn. It's nice to meet you." I smiled back.
"King Arlen...BLOODY HELL TESSA WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!" Anthony sounded exasperated, but his body language clearly showed he was happy to see his mate.
"Anthony, I know you wanted me to stay behind. But Levi, you know how he has a gift? Ainslee, Emma and I got to talking. And with all the witch attacks and the casualties my own kind may experience, Levi may be able to help!"
"Tessa, I am commanding you to take our children, go back to the beach and wait for all this to be over!! Now where is that a**hat that brought you..." Anthony's eyes became less wild.
"You know I hate it when you do that!" Anthony sulked at Jason.
"And I hate to break this to you, but your wife is spot on! We need all hands on deck right now!!" Arlen's phone rang.
"GET AS MANY GUARDS AS YOU CAN ON THE GATE!"
"Brynn, take Tessa, the babies and all the Fae children to the bunker! We're under attack!!" He, Aiden and Jason ran out of the room to the front.
"Come on!" Tessa followed behind me as I led her to the bunker. When I got to the foyer, I was surrounded by at least fifty Fae children and a couple of older women Arlen exempted from fighting due to their frailties.
"Follow me!" I led them all down the hall to the bunker. I waited until Tessa was inside and got ready to close it.
"Brynn, what are you doing!?!" Tessa screamed at me.
"My King needs me." I closed the door and went outside where I was met by Faes flying around and various colors of dust all around me. Suddenly, I sensed something dark to my right.
"Mmmmm...are you the new Fairy Queen??" A brown-haired woman with pockmarks all over her face came up to me with her hands raised, smirking viciously. I stared at her a few seconds and realized...
"You're that b***h Arlen banished!" She hurled some kind of lavender dust at me and I put up my gold shield, and watched in amusement as she gasped.
"WHAT! MARSHALL TOLD ME YOU WERE JUST SOME WEAK HUMAN B***H!"
"Of course he did. My grandfather doesn't know what I really am!" I snapped back at her and laughed as Kelli tossed her useless dust at me and screamed in frustration.
"You know...I f****d your mate, b***h! He's a good f**k but a lousy boyfriend!" I about doubled over.
"Arlen wouldn't touch your s***k a** with a ten-foot pole!" I snarked, then froze her. Emmett Holt suddenly appeared before me. Seconds later, Kelli DeMaio was no more.
"Thanks, Emmett." I smiled.
"Go hang by Aiden Starr and my sister Eve. You can freeze the remaining witches and toss them in the chasm Eve will create!" Wait...WHAT!
I ran over to Aiden and Eve, eager to see her ability. Aiden's hands were emitting a constant stream of black smoke as Eve whispered her blessings. Suddenly, the ground beneath my feet began to shake. Before I knew it, Aiden and Eve jumped to my side as several witches ran towards them. I engulfed Aiden and Eve in my shield to protect them, and froze the witches running towards us just as the earth completely split open!
"Queen Brynn, I'm almost done! Unfreeze them in three...two..." Once Eve got to one, I unfroze them and down into the earth they all fell. Eve immediately closed the chasm.
"That should have been all of them." Aiden bent over to get his breath.
"Eve, that was the most amazing thing I've ever seen!" I said excitedly. Eve smiled widely at me.
"I'm glad you are pleased, Queen Brynn."
"BRYNN! I TOLD YOU TO GO TO THE BUNKER!" Arlen ran over to me.
"You should know me well enough by now to know that was the last thing I'm going to do. This is what I've been training for all these months, and I think I delivered pretty well!" I told him.
"King Arlen, the Queen did fantastic. She also took care of some Fae you banished." Arlen shook his head and chuckled.
"Your battles are mine, Arlen. Just as mine has been yours." I whispered, and kissed him on the cheek. Out of nowhere, Anthony screamed for us. We ran to where he was carrying Jason towards the hospital.
"Oh God!" Jason's color was gray, and his shirt was saturated in blood. When Anthony moved, I saw Jason's torso was open and his inner parts were exposed.
This was bad!
"Someone get Tessa and tell her to bring Levi!!" Anthony screamed as Arlen used his speed to get to the bunker. The rest of us carried Jason to the hospital. Dr. Byers worked frantically on him, but I could see from the look on his face he didn't have much hope.
Arlen brought Tessa, Anthony and their children. Anthony took the baby girl and Tessa walked over to Jason, who had lost consciousness and his breathing had slowed. She bent Levi over Jason's face, and we all watched in wonder as the baby touched Jason's face and babbled. Suddenly, both of Levi's eyes turned bright green, and he began to glow brightly. Soon, Jason also glowed, and he opened his eyes and screamed in pain.
"He's back!! Get an OR room ready!" Dr. Byers commanded as they rushed Jason to fix the damage he sustained.
Tessa walked over to Anthony, holding Levi closely to her. "See? I told you Levi needed to be here. He's not only our little miracle, he makes miracles!"
